MUM REACTS - Eurovision 2024 - Semi Final 2

Less than two weeks to go until Eurovision 2024 in Malmö, Sweden begins. Rehearsals are basically here already and excitement is growing. So naturally (after battling with copyright 4 times) THE MOM is back and listening to all the songs in semi-final 2, including the favorite to win - Switzerland's Nemo "The Code", Netherlands and Joost Klein going for the televote victory with "Europapa". Naturally our own country Estonia is here as well with 5Miinust and Puuluup with the impossible to pronounce longest ever title in ESC "(nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi". Of course others are here as well, including Malta, Albania, Greece, Czechia, Austria, Denmark, Armenia, Latvia, San Marino, Georgia, Belgium, Israel, Norway, France, Spain and Italy.

Grazie mille per la reaction all'Italy 🇮🇹 siete simpaticissimi. La noia appare come una canzone allegra, invece il testo è profondo e importante. È autobiografica, (noia paragonata a depressione). Angelina è riuscita a venire fuori da traumi provocati dalla morte di suo padre, lei aveva solo 13 anni ed era presente quando il padre si è sentito male mentre si esibiva sul palco in un concerto, (Pino Mango, grandissimo artista italiano, cantautore e compositore). Quando dice "è la cumbia della noia" dato che la cumbia è paragonata ad un ballo spensierato, trasmette un messaggio importante, nonostante i dolori che la vita ti mette difronte bisogna andare avanti e credere in tutto ciò che c'è di positivo. It's a pity that you couldn't appreciate the Greek song. I'm not Greek so have no skin in the game here, but I find that both the Estonian and the Greek songs come from a similar place, as they blend ethnic sounds with modern styles. I love the Greek song and like the Estonian song this year. The Greek song I'm obsessed with though, and it has made me look into the artist's repertoire. Its sound palate is also not a strange one for me, as I follow artists like Rosalia already.

One thing is, traditional sounds in Estonia and Greece are very different. And so called political voting in ESC isn't always about politics, but actually different music that people listen to and like in different regions. Typically Estonia doesn't vote for Balkan countries and vice versa. To us, last year's Greek song was nice, pleasant and radio friendly. This is just too different. (Of course a lot of generalizing here 😀)

Your mother with her comments about Nemo made it clear she really doesn't know the first thing about music on a deeper or technical basis, and apparently doesn't understand that a SONG consists of words and music sung together. The song is not really my cup of tea, but as a former instrumentalist for 10 years (both marching/symphonic, Flute/Piano) and choral singer (30+ years) I found myself very impressed by their (non-binary) ability to quickly switch between several genres of music in the same song. Angelina from Italy does the same. I appreciate your mother's apparent taste, but I do have to call her out for rampant ignorance and even prejudice. Tell us some reason why you have such a problem with something, don't just be lazy and whiny. I've enjoyed your videos in the past, but I had to close it after that issue. I also will not bother to watch any Grand Final one you might do involving her. I will keep an eye out for other videos you might do without her. Thanks for the work you put in this year!

Not even 1 istaeli , soldier, or civilin was in Gaza. Reminding your mother , Hamas, who was elected by the Palestinian in Gaza, calls for the destruction of Israel and the killing of all jews. Remind here that on October 6, there was a cease fire between. HAMAS and Israel. During this cease fire, Hamas fired hundreds of missiles and rockets every night towars cities in Israel. On October 7, it violated international law by crossing the border going into Israeli cities and vileges, killing raping beheading, torturing innocent civilians on a Saturday morning.and kidnapping 237 Reminding you Israel was created by a united nation resolution that the jews accepted, but Arabs and Palestinians didn't and started a war against the new state.since then, 6 wars and they failed ro erase Israel. Choose carefully who you stand with and support. I agree with your mother about the Swiss song. Young ESC fans seem to think it is enough if the song is weird, different and "unique!" ( ? ) BUT unique, weid and diffrent does not mean GOOD SONG. The songs of Switzerland and Ireland are Both too fragmented, confused, little bit this and that, just like those both artists are themselves: Confused. Unlike GB Olly who seems to be in peace with his life, hope in won day also Nemo and Bambie Thug find direction for their lives and own style. Some of you have compared Nemo to Freddie Mercury or even to Mozart ( One Finn said Nemo is like Mozart.😂😂😂😂😂 That explains why Finns voted a creepy flasher represent themselves.🤣🤣🤣 ) which is just ridiculous. I have no particular issue with Eden, based on what little Ive learned of her. But the song should have remained banned, since it is a thinly disguised reference to October, and then the soulless mass assault on civilians that followed in Gaza. EBU was guilty beyond measure in failing to apply the same standard as they did with Russia - I suspect the Moroccan Oil sponsorship has a lot to do with it. I fully supported Israel taking drastic steps in response - but as it is that monster Netanyahu directing it, I'm not surprised no target is out of bounds. Someone raised the issue of Jamala and 1944 - it is a VERY DIFFERENT THING to be the victim of rampant murder, displacement, etc, and to be the PERPETRATOR of it. The heartbreaking thing for me is that Israel fell right into the very intentionally designed trap Hamas leadership set for it, and forfeited every single bit of major international support for it's own victims. BTW, to be clear, I am applying exactly the same standard to Azerbaijan, and its mass murder/destruction/ethnic cleansing in Artsakh. So Ive refused to intentionally listen to either song as a matter of principle. After the contest I'll be willing to investigate other music from Eden.
