Mum Tries Out A Mitsubishi Mirage (2016) [60K Sub Special]

As a one off 60K subscriber special episode, we deviate from the idea of testing operating systems to instead see what OSFirstTimer would be like if it was about testing out cars for the first time. Diana just got a new car (to replace her last one she has had for a decade) so this was the perfect opportunity to do this video. Enjoy :)

It looked like there was a little groove in the shelf above the glove box for having the USB cable stick up so you can leave the phone on the shelf while it is plugged in. Also, here is the best response I've seen for the 'B' on the shifter: "The "B" actually stands for "braking". This mode is specifically for use when a higher level of engine braking is required, such as descending steep hills. "B" mode allows the engine to rev to 3000 Rpm throughout the speed range so a far greater engine braking resonse is felt when letting off the accelerator."

The calling section was hilarious and had me in tears at the end of it... 1. I loved your reactions when the thing almost called 000 ;) 2. Philip! In Canada, emergency services is 911 as in the US. of course it's winter here, but in Calgary Alberta the weather is not too bad, supposed to be about 9 tomorrow or about 40 F. thanks to Chinook winds. Great video! Thank you and congrats!!! We also own a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage ES CVT (USA) that we purchased new and now has 13,000 miles on it and we love it. I wanted a small car that was loaded with every option and feature and the Mirage was perfect. We got the top trim ES with CVT and the optional Navigation & Back Up Camera Package, Chrome Package, Cargo Package, Exterior Appearance Package, Front & Rear Park Assist Package, Color Keyed Bodyside Moldings and many more Accessories. All the other cars in the class I looked at cost alot more when loaded out and you could not get alot of the features that the Mirage offered. For example even the base trim had Auto Climate Control, AC, PW, PL, PM, AM FM CD and Ipod Hook Up. On top of all this you get the 10 year 100,000 mike warranty and 37 city and 44 highway mpg and 40 combined. I average 43 in the city and 47 on the highway but can top 50 if careful. Every owner for the most part exceeds what Mitsu claims for MPG. You guys made a great choice

Instead of using the car's proprietary voice commands, you could manually activate Siri on your iPhone (making sure it's within arm's reach), and then the car should act like it's making a phone call, but it'll let you use Siri through the car's microphone and speakers. I do it this way on my 2014 Peugeot 208 and it perfectly recognizes my voice commands almost all the time. Over here, the Mirage is called Space Star, and it's not popular (I've only seen one in real life) because there isn't a diesel version (you wouldn't believe how many diesel cars there are here, big and small).

Hilarious about the in-car voice recognition dialling. Did you guys ever figure it out? I've noticed Siri / Google-Assistant (when connected) is far superior in voice recognition simply due to the vast network it has at its disposal once the voice sample is uploaded as compared to the car's limited baked-in algorithms. You're better off connecting the phone via bluetooth then having Siri (internet connected) listening for your commands like "Hey Siri, call Phillip" or "Hey Siri, dial XXX". The accuracy will be perfect.

The "B" mode should be used if you are going down a long hill, and your batteries are already close to being fully charge. "B" mode lets the engine help slow down the car without overusing your brakes and over-charging the batteries.
