Күн бұрын

As a one off 60K subscriber special episode, we deviate from the idea of testing operating systems to instead see what OSFirstTimer would be like if it was about testing out cars for the first time. Diana just got a new car (to replace her last one she has had for a decade) so this was the perfect opportunity to do this video. Enjoy :)
Task List:
1. Unlock your car remotely
2. What time is it and how many kms has the car driven?
3. Turn on the air conditioner
4. Play music from an iPhone through the car speakers
5. Use the car to make a phone call through your phone.
6. Drive anywhere in Australia and perform a reverse parking.
Back on the topic of operating systems though, check out my less than 3 minute Arch Linux Installation Tutorial on my How To Quickly Channel: • How To Quickly: Instal...

I just noticed my intro for this video has an "amateur commercial" feeling to it. It was not meant to feel like an ad for Mitsubishi and we were not paid by them to feature their car etc... Diana just really liked their service and wanted to point it out. (So no, OSFirstTimer is and always will be about true opinions, we don't make paid promotional videos with fake opinions).

It looked like there was a little groove in the shelf above the glove box for having the USB cable stick up so you can leave the phone on the shelf while it is plugged in. Also, here is the best response I've seen for the 'B' on the shifter: "The "B" actually stands for "braking". This mode is specifically for use when a higher level of engine braking is required, such as descending steep hills. "B" mode allows the engine to rev to 3000 Rpm throughout the speed range so a far greater engine braking resonse is felt when letting off the accelerator."

The calling section was hilarious and had me in tears at the end of it... 1. I loved your reactions when the thing almost called 000 ;) 2. Philip! There are only 100 more permutations to go before someone finds your phone number. I could technically call every remaining number (which would take me at most 1 hour) and then eventually find you! I think you should have 1KHz Sine Waved out at least 4 numbers :) 3. If that happened while Diana was driving, you'd probably run into a building by now... Kinda ironic since you almost called 000 ;) 4. That "Pardon?" bit really made me laugh... I can barely type this up ;) By the double-u, the emergency number for New Zealand is 111. :)
@OsFirstTimer
@OsFirstTimer 7 жыл бұрын
Well, I doubt people will call 100 different numbers in the hope to find me. Only time I have seen that done is on that Mr Bean 2007 holiday movie. And yes, that pardon bit was hilarious! It was like the car was offended that we said it would cause a crash.

Eli Jandrew Mitsubishi are top rate cars. You're just another ignorant American who thinks their cars are the best. Mitsubishi hasn't succeeded in North America because they don't design cars for American drivers. All the other Japanese car makes have design HQs and factories in the USA which makes a big difference.

Great video! Thank you and congrats!!! We also own a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage ES CVT (USA) that we purchased new and now has 13,000 miles on it and we love it. I wanted a small car that was loaded with every option and feature and the Mirage was perfect. We got the top trim ES with CVT and the optional Navigation & Back Up Camera Package, Chrome Package, Cargo Package, Exterior Appearance Package, Front & Rear Park Assist Package, Color Keyed Bodyside Moldings and many more Accessories. All the other cars in the class I looked at cost alot more when loaded out and you could not get alot of the features that the Mirage offered. For example even the base trim had Auto Climate Control, AC, PW, PL, PM, AM FM CD and Ipod Hook Up. On top of all this you get the 10 year 100,000 mike warranty and 37 city and 44 highway mpg and 40 combined. I average 43 in the city and 47 on the highway but can top 50 if careful. Every owner for the most part exceeds what Mitsu claims for MPG. You guys made a great choice

Instead of using the car's proprietary voice commands, you could manually activate Siri on your iPhone (making sure it's within arm's reach), and then the car should act like it's making a phone call, but it'll let you use Siri through the car's microphone and speakers. I do it this way on my 2014 Peugeot 208 and it perfectly recognizes my voice commands almost all the time. Over here, the Mirage is called Space Star, and it's not popular (I've only seen one in real life) because there isn't a diesel version (you wouldn't believe how many diesel cars there are here, big and small).

Well, 112 is the GSM Emergency number that can be called in pretty much any country from a mobile phone. :)

Hilarious about the in-car voice recognition dialling. Did you guys ever figure it out? I've noticed Siri / Google-Assistant (when connected) is far superior in voice recognition simply due to the vast network it has at its disposal once the voice sample is uploaded as compared to the car's limited baked-in algorithms. You're better off connecting the phone via bluetooth then having Siri (internet connected) listening for your commands like "Hey Siri, call Phillip" or "Hey Siri, dial XXX". The accuracy will be perfect.

I think the big problem with the voice recognition, was you were speaking into the radio... The microphone is usually above the windshield, so the driver doesn't have to move while they are driving...

The "B" mode should be used if you are going down a long hill, and your batteries are already close to being fully charge. "B" mode lets the engine help slow down the car without overusing your brakes and over-charging the batteries.

The squiggly thing she was talking about is actually a safety feature so Diana doesn't stall out by accidentally shifting into reverse while driving. Or worse still, the engine wins and Diana is sent straight into the car behind.
