Mumbai as of now should have had atleast 400 kilometers of metro line. This city should have atleast a 1000 kilometers of tracks by the year 2050 which includes the metropolitan region as it is estimated to have a combined population of more than 50 million.

Mumbai needed metro way before now.. mumbai has more dense population than delhi and Kolkata.. Mumbai metro construction should be started in 2000's but due to govt didn't had much interest about modernization and transport it is not operational till now even tier 2 and tier 3 cities have thier metro like Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow and construction is on full swing in MP also like Bhoj metro(bhopal) and Indore also. Mumbai should have to have cover more adjacent cities like palghar, thane etc like delhi does (ghaziabad, noida, gurugram, faridabad). Otherwise only in mumbai itself it will not feasible.

Why not plan it like Delhi? Even after seeing their success. Delhi Metro also connected it's adjacent cities of Haryana and UP to Delhi. Like some portions of Delhi Metro operates in Ghaziabad, Noida, Faridabad and Gurugram.
