I agree with you, but some of this new stuff comes really close. A lot of it is really over the top like Infant Annihilator, Dying Fetus, Cattle Decapitation, livedity and well….. I don’t think I can say that in KZbin comments without censoring them but Parasitic Ejacul*tion and Gorg*sm. The bands are amazing, but most of them are so over the top that I can’t listen to them before eating (The only songs I can think of that made me do that from the better metal gen was Robert Killed Himself and Dead Skin Mask (both by the rulers of metal) Not many bands have the clean-ish vocals that made slayer so good, but the bands that made me love metal were bands like Gojira, Acrania, Mastodon, Opeth, Lamb of God, Revocation, Tool, Dethklok (This band was a parody of over the top modern metal made for a show so it’s hilarious to me), Slipknot, Korn, Sylosis, Termina, and Rings of Saturn These newer “satanic” bands are the closest to slayer I’ve seen: Thy Art Is Murder, Whitechapel, dimmu borgir(Swedish band that takes themselves way too seriously but imo he’s as good as Dave the drumming king) Then, there’s more extreme metal like Gnaw Their Tongues, Bog Body, Peace and Love, and Flesh Wall. This music is pure sound to me but if you like it, it’s not my choice or my business to annoy you about it. Honestly, the only band that comes close to Slayer is Whitechapel, Thy Art, and Revocation. Jesus fuck I just wrote a whole paragraph 💀

Ive loved EVERYTHING Slayer as put out since I first heard them in 1985 when I was 22. I wasnt really into metal but started dating a rock chick in the mid 85 and she introduced me to them, consequently we saw them live 3 times in the 80s and they were absolutely on point vocally and instrumentally as they were in the studio. Ive bought every album and loved every track ever since and the progression from 80's to noughties is brilliant. They have a couple of absolute top drawer tracks on every album but out of the rest there's none I feel compelled to skip. Funnily enough I dont even consider myself a metal or even a rock fan, I like a huge range of stuff (even opera) but I still dont like any other metal band enough to buy an album, I like the odd track from the odd band and that's about it, but I can filter Slayer up on my itunes once a week and just play everything I have from the earliest to the latest in one session. Most thrash and death metal bands are just smashing out the same old riffs and a whole lot of noise but not much else. Slayer are in a different league, download the back catalogue from Hell Awaits up to Diabolus In Musica and you wont be dissapointed.

Definitely not the best drummer guitarist band in any way! But more tolerable than mumble rap that has no content lyrically. Gotta at least admit that the lyrics are on point. I'm not a Slayer fan at all. I prefer Infected Rain. There's a hell of a lot more meaning in these lyrics in even what I listen to over just making syllables fit with beats. I'm just thankful not all rap is garbage. I mean rap. Not garbage mumble nonsense yeah?
