In this video I react to Slayer's War Ensemble. This song was fucking amazing! I swear everytime I listen to a Slayer track, I feel like im being prepared for battle.

Slayer has a few punk-ish vibes that Metallica doesn't. And a lot of Slayer is about sounding chaotic and evil in a way that Metallica typically doesn't try to. But yeah, definitely both in the thrash genre. They kind of represent different branches of the genre. With Slayer being the more speedy and brutal style, and Metallica being the more melodic finesse with slight prog elements.

@@nomadmusicbk2366 agreed. Lombardo is one of the best and most influential metal drummers ever in my opinion. RIP to Jeff hanneman Wish Lombardo was still in the band. And they play even faster live and sound terrific. When Metallica tries to play fast live they sound like total slop.

They definitely had some nights where looked like they didn't care but overall their performances were better

My band actually opened for Slayer here in Tucson their first time here which was on the South of Heaven tour circa 1989. The pit was amazing and personally was my biggest audience. The only one better woulda been when we opened for Pantera on the Vulgar Display of Power tour. Beautiful.

Thomas Bianchino that is fucking awesome to be able to say those two things. Well done! Went to UofA, by the way. So few people at that school had a clue about good music, but as soon as I left the campus and got into the city scene, I found that Tucson has a really great music scene. Played drums my last three years down there in the early 2000’s. Good times. Anyway, you’re a lucky man.

I recollect I first saw them play here in 1984.... they did play together in 2010 at Sonisphere along with Megadeth and Anthrax I was there for that one and it was amazing! There was always a fan feud about who was best, but they were always on good terms with each other (kind of similar to the Slipknot/Mushroomhead thing) Need to react to Disciple.... they opened with that in May when I saw them.

You get it, bro. You get it. The only band I’ve seen more than slayer is Pantera. Every show was amazing. You would get nervous, you would get butterflies in your stomach before their show started. It was like getting in a fight. You knew you’re going to get hurt, and you’re gonna have fun doing it if you got in the mosh pit. I left the shows bloody then bruised a couple of times. Everyone was cool though, and everyone would always help you up. One of my favorite shows was seeing them with Pantera. They always had really good intros too. One show, they had a big screen with a beating heart, like from a medical video. And slowly the heart stopped beating. When the heart stopped beating they came on super aggressive, I don’t remember the song though. I don’t remember anybody arguing about Metallica and Slayer. Metallica did a different thing, and slayer stayed metal. Slayer was always more aggressive tho.

First concert. I was 14. The tour for the album this song is from. Slayer shows are an assault and deep dive into the darkness and evils of mankind. It’s kind of the musical equivalent of a horror movie. I was fortunate to see the original lineup with Dave on drums and Jeff (rip) on guitar.

Seem you liked Slaaaayer! great video when Kerry King had hair and before Tom, the vocalist injured his neck because too much headbanging (he can't do anymore) pity you didn't go to one of their shows, incomparable experience with the energy of the songs multiplied many times! History says that Kerry played for a short time with Megadeth, the band of Dave Mustaine, formed after he was expelled from Metallica! a close and often conflicting relationship between their huge egos. These personal rivalries between the leaders, gave us three magnificent bands, for the benefit of thrash metal fans. Each one in its own and different style. But louders, fasters...Slaaaaayer rules! Jeff Hanneman, rest in power.

It's a trilogy of sorts, Chemical Warfare, Ghosts of War and War Ensemble. I lost count how many times I've seen them live lol, first show was Reign in Blood tour 1986, and though they are known for some of the most vicious pits in metal, they're shows are also fun AF because their fans are freaking insane, most devoted fans in all of metal methinks.The Final Campaign is about to embark so if you can get the chance dont miss out, granted some fans think they're not as good since the passing of Hanneman and though Dave Lombardo is no longer drumming with them, (He's going to be touring with Misfits for their reunion tour) Paul Bostaph is obviously a superb drummer as well. Only thing to sort of equal a Slayer show is invite 100 of your wildest friends (and whomever is wearing a Slayer shirt in public lol) to your house then play a dvd at 100db + and beat the holy hell out of each other for an hour and a half haha!

Lombardo is one of my favorite drummers. Grip Inc., the shit he's done with Mike Patton of Faith No More over the years. So versatile, fast (of course) and his inventive fills are astounding. Tom Araya isn't a very talkative frontman live. He's straight to the point, no BS. Their shows are insane... Moshing is for the young guys, though. I'm mid 40s now, so it's not for me anymore. 1st time I saw Slayer was on South of Heaven Tour. Got a broken nose and a hairline fracture in my upper jaw. Enough said!!! As far as comparing Slayer and Metallica, there is no comparison; never was, never will be! Slayer is the the only band from the Big 4 that remained true to their roots throughout their long career. And if you were to take both their music and create MMA fighters out of it, the Slayer fighter would wipe the floor with the Metallica one. Outside of some of the German thrash bands like Kreator, Slayer was the hardest hitting, most aggressive band to tour the face of the Earth.
@wotanskarl1925 жыл бұрын
Think Desert Storm when you listen to this one. The slayer/metallica thing is honestly pretty minor in the grand scheme of metal fandom feuds, but it did become more pronounced after metallica released the black album, and started going all classic rock (thanks hetfield).
