It’s not something unique to Utah, any other police force can and does use the resources available to them to communicate with someone who speaks English as their second language.

I am sure I will run into it in a video but after watching many bodycam shows of HP and they start screaming at someone to back up/lay down/ face me as soon as they stop someone, your show has been a refreshing breath of air with the calmness of the officers. @LockeDemosthenes24 күн бұрын
Something that I think a lot of people don't realize is that the blood alchol limit in Utah is only .05 (it's .08 in every other State). However, almost all DUI's in Utah still involve people over .08, because people in the .05-.08 range tend to not be inebrieted enough to get pulled over. Because of the .05 limit though, it's a good idea to not drive in Utah if you've had anything to drink that day at all, even if it was just a beer or two.
@samuelpancake40848 күн бұрын

I used to work at a hospital doing security. We had tablets with a translator app. 24/7/365 you select the language and a translator came on a video call.. with current technology I don't see why law enforcement can't have that same technology on the go. Maybe in some rural areas may not work so well but there has to be something.

My guess is it’s because simply having an open container in the vehicle is a violation. Later on he’s checking whether the bottles in the F-150 are still factory sealed.

I have a question. I am very aware of the dangers that you face when you pull vehicles over. I get frustrated when people pull off to the left. If I am required to stop is it okay to find the most safest spot on the interstate, even if it means to traveling for a minute or so and exit the interstate. Also what things can I do to make the officer feel safer once pulled over. Such as (turn engine off, hands visible, inside lights on). I want your officers to be safe and no harm done. You have a very dangerous job.

Here's a question for you guys. What's the difference between LIDAR and RADAR? I know one uses normal light waves but not really sure when you would use one over the other.
@matthewrobinson52497 күн бұрын
RADAR uses radio waves to measure speed of vehicles within the vicinity of the radar waves. You have to be trained to first recognize and observe a vehicle that is traveling at a high rate of speed and then position the vehicle in a manner that the radar waves will read the speed of that vehicle. LIDAR are commonly referred to as “radar guns” and it’s a gun that is utilizes light to shoot a beam at one specific car.

I live all the way in Florida but did some reading about Eli. It is sickening to think an attorney, who likely has children, would represent Mason Ohms with the idea he could atone for his reckless, callous and selfish behavior of knowlingly hitting a child then just leaving the scene with zero regard to this child. Be real Greg Skordas, how do you sleep at night trying to convince people Mason Ohms has become a victim for what he did? A better attorney would have not only acknowledged Mason screwed up and needed to be punished but acknowledged what he did was horrific and while serving his sentence he will have the opportunity to get sober and hopefully learn from his actions. You didnt do that- you _almost_ victimized the suspect. Gross. When the suspect looks back at his carnage then drives off disregarding a life...to only stop a short time later to remove that pesky bike making all that noise-how can he atone for that in the 10 months before sentencing? Mason isnt devastated for the death of Eli, clearly he is devastated he got caught. 5 DUIS and he STILL DROVE? FIVE PEOPLE Mason Ohms, a 50-something year old man had been convicted of *5 PREVIOUS DUIS* and driving on a suspended license. Somebody please show me where this waste of oxygen ever felt bad? Had he even the slightest regard for anybodys life he would NEVER have got behind the wheel of any vehicle while intoxicated on any level. It sucks he was given 5 chances to get his crap together and the only way for him to STOP putting everybodys lives at risk was for an innocent 13 year old child to get in his drunken way and be killed. I pray Mason Ohms _serves all 20 years_ of his sentence *AND NEVER* gets behind the wheel of any vehicle again.
