I can only handle this video about 2 times a year. I end up sobbing half way through-ever single time. Wondering why in the hell I love torturing myself like this?? Idris Elba is an amazing spirit and a wonderful actor. There is no way to explain the way he shows so many emotions and tells a story without saying a word. Plus knowing he directed this…ugh. He’s a national treasure, please guard this man with everything you have. .

First time I've heard this song...I've had an awakening this last fortnight, and all I can say is that you are always loved, so no need to torture yourself. As a self torturer' I now know that U, Me, Myself and I are all the same...We Are All One. You are never alone. I suggest a song that resonates with me and many others. 'Slow Down' by Jim Yosef with the words version. Be good to yourself. When u hurt we all hurt. 💙

Brian Baker This isn't the early 70s, stop living in the past. Different generations, different views of society and the world as a whole, therefor our perception of the "arts" changes. What I take away from this beautiful video and song is a powerful message of faith. Relating humans to the deer who is taken care of day after day living by faith with no ability to plan for the future. And Idris represents a human who decides to let go of control and live by faith running toward the light. I love all of the close calls and things that could have gone wrong but everything works out and he is free.

this felt like a love letter from God to me the first time i watched the video and heard the song. Not the kind that makes you smile fondly, but the kind that made me run to my room and sob so violently that my husband thought something was wrong. My husband had said to listen to this new song... My parents had divorced after almost four decades of marriage, i was pregnant and had just moved to a new town where we knew no one, and i was just filled with such aching sorrow. I couldn't hear God when i prayed, and when i opened my Bible, i didn't feel Him talking to me out of the pages. I was going to church out of obedience and rote, wanting to do the right thing, wanting to feel right in the world, but everything felt so wrong and broken. This song was so clearly telling me "keep walking toward what you know is good. Don't give up. Don't just sit down and cry. RUN toward what is good, and forget everything else"... It was what i needed to know that God saw me, He understood my broken heart, and He was still for me. He still had a good plan in all the mess.

If you guys haven't found out yet. There is a syndrome where one loses their sight when it gets dark, like simply getting more blind than normal when it gets dark. So that explains why he was running after the sun. He didn't want to lose the light, because without it he will be blind. Also where we can asses that the light is also the presence of his loved ones, hence the name Lover of the light. This music video gives me chills and is on my fav 5 music videos. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as i do.. ;D

I see it as doubly meaningful - that ^ and he has already lost a loved one (talking to himself, setting two places at the breakfast table, etc..) ... he has already lost some of his sunshine, some of his sight.. he is running after 'her' (or him), fighting for the last ray of the daytime knowing that darkness follows - and then accepting it at the last minute that it might cause his destruction. Notice the smile after the 'fist at the sky' moment - he has hope - hope for tomorrow and the light that it brings.

Every time I listen to this song or any from Mumford and Sons gives me inspiration or strength. A beautiful song. It touches my heart like no other song can. My friends think I'm wierd for listening to this genre but I think otherwise because the song is beautiful, moving, worthy and no one can take that away. Brings me tears of mix feelings. I love this band.

Sometimes life is just strange... Yesterday i started watching the show "Luther". So i searched for the guy who's acting as Luther. I found Idris Elba. Never heard of him before (shame on me) - but i'm truly impressed of his acting skills. And today i wanted to listen to some Mumford & Sons... and WHO'S in the video? Idris Elba.... what a coincidence.

I love this video for the same reason everyone loves this video and song. But I wanted to put it into words. The blind man seeking the light is only a part of this, and it is a metaphor for finding the courage to go on. I see this, but it's only part of it. I also see a man who wakes up expecting to be next to his love, but he is alone. He serves breakfast for two people, taking his time to prepare it just like he always has. During breakfast he indulges in a memory with his loved one which then flips to the end as an emotional bridge. Ultimately this is about love, and loss and the memories left behind. A part of life we must all shoulder, but go on. And it's portrayed beautifully, as the man suffering is blind, but we are not blind to his suffering. He finds the courage to step outside to seek the warm light, which is an allegory for running for his lost love and moving on. The animal shots also symbolise a connection to nature and life. It's all there, and we all know and we simply feel it. This is what makes this video so powerful. At the end the man hasn't forgotten how to love, he feels it just as strongly as the first time. And he will go on. It's a celebration of life.

Definetely a possible love story of the passed loved one or an emotional story of a blind man; (there were guesses on if the deer was a sign from the passed away loved on & the ideas that are sparked alongside the beautiful music is endless as it should be in it's simple perfection)

He makes a breakfast for two one for him and one for god who is always with him. He lets go of his cane what hes relied on and follows this voice within not his sight which is just a crutch we all use to get by in a world of uncertainty. Yet god is always certain.

Directed by - and starring - actor Idris Elba, the “Light” video tells the story of a blind man who literally leaves his disability at the door, ditching his cane and wandering out into the wide world. And though he’s sightless, he bravely dashes through a forest, sprints toward the edge of a cliff and lives his life unencumbered, for the first time. It is an incredibly powerful, moving thing, a clip meant to both inspire and empower … which is exactly what they were going for when they sat down with Elba to discuss the treatment. And even if the finished product has left some of their fans slightly bewildered, well, that’s perfectly fine with everyone involved.
