For those complaining about that weakness. As of season 2 it gets removed.

Anybody hasn't watched the series or seeing this out of context might just think Mumm-ra is handing the heroes a permanent game over moment But that's how powerful Mumm-ra was and that reflection weakness from season 1 was intended just to take a little bit of an edge off of his power or as a way to give the writers a way to end a story within the time of a single episode

Lion-O just got owned that day, when Mumm-Ra lost his one weakness.

His only weakness was his reflection? The hell kind of weakness is that?

It used to show him his actual face. He couldn't handle the sight of his decayed, mummified body. It's not a pleasant thing to look at. Probably less pleasant to smell.

I think the implication was that not even Mumm-ra could face the unfiltered truth of what he had become

I always liked Mumm-Ra. He came across more as cranky grandpa than an evil guy

I loved mumm ra. He was my favorite character in the show. He was a unique character and just awesome. Such a shame there are no villains like him nowadays in cartoons

I remember actually cheering this as a kid. I know the "Weakness is his reflection" deal was both a reference to ancient myths (Vampires, Gorgons, etc.) and a way for the writers to get themselves out of a jam, but I always thought it was a super cheap way to beat Mumm-Ra.

Wow. I knew Rankin-Bass had a strong sense of continuity but I never figured they would make a direct point about this particular bit. So did the Thunder Cats have to beat the ever living crap out of him or was it that time was up and he had to go back to sleep that defeats him this episode?

When the sun rises, his time is up and he loses his powers. Makes sense. Otherwise, he would be unstoppable.

@@dolria1 Not exactly. Mumm-Ra has a 24 hour time limit. It doesn't matter what time of the day he becomes ever living, he's got 24 hours to do as he pleases. The rising sun thing was only in the reboot, which basically reduced him to a vampire.

Linxo the blind Thundercat pulled out a tablet that was more powerful than Mumm ra. It's power drove Mumm ra away in this episode and that's how the ThunderCats beat him this time.

Typically he had to go back to his pyramid to rest. But there were other reasons thrown in, typically for the sake of the story. Even had Mumm-Ra grovelling for mercy in one episode.
@ImmortalSynn4 жыл бұрын
@@wreathofpalmaria There was no 24hr limit. Mumm-Ra had a finite amount of energy from with to both live and to utilize as magic; once that amount was spent, he had to return to his sarcophagus to re-energize. Time frame is irrelevant. When he attempted to free the princess Tashi and gain the Doom Gaze, for example, he exhausted himself in less than 10min.

I have to admit that I was cheering for Mumm-Ra to just kill them by the end of the series.
