Fun fact from the production notes: Mumm-Ra was a villain known as "Poisonous Python, Mumm-Ra" in his previous life (hence the snake motif). But that was many years ago. He can only briefly transform into his original form with the help of the Evil Spirits of the Black Pyramid. He came to know of the existence of the Eye of Thundera by the power of the pyramid. He will be given a new life by possessing it.

I may be biased but those old cartoons from my childhood are better than current movies!? All except for production standards + inoffensive action perhaps? OK, it was basically the same format every week, but they had deeper mythology, better music, epic villain's, well-rounded characters, plot + motivation that made sense + they were far more fun too. Without shoving "woke" a-gender, identity politic's, down kids' throats. Entertainment + the Disney's of this world try + brainwash everyone to believe that everything was racist/misogynistic back then? But Cheetara was an awesome, female character!? Problem with a lot of people today is that they're like Mumm-Ra! So reactive that they're terrified of their own reflections. And want everything "safe" so as stop their own 'shadow' from being triggered! At least Mumm-Ra enjoys being a villain + isn't too stuck-up to try + repress his own nature! : )
