****This is a Travel Advisory******This is not meant to scare tourists but to simply bring awareness to LA's political habitat. Munchie B aka Munchavelli aka the Munch Man aka The Talk of LA aka the B Team Mayor is lacing your shoes up on what hats you should NOT WEAR here in Los Angeles. Despite common misconceptions, in California, fitted baseball caps carry more significance than colors. Regrettably, many individuals have fallen victim to misunderstandings surrounding baseball hats over the years. Specific hats hold considerable meaning for particular organizations in Southern California, such as the scenario of an out-of-town Seattle Mariners fan attending an event at the Los Angeles Forum, only to find himself wearing an 'S' hat while heading out for a late-night dinner. This innocent choice leads to confrontation with locals and chaos ensues.

But fast forward to today. There are many many gangs in LA. Some with historical feuds that are built on murder, and perpetuated by murder. And when poor kids grow up in this inner city, and have to walk 5 blocks to school, chances are, they walk through the turf of 2 or 3 different gangs. If they dont have support at home. If they find themselves targeted or bullied by any of these gangs. If they have friends who they trust that are already members. They will probably join. And the hats is a way of signaling your affiliation in a very turbulent city with lots of wolves. And if you arent involved in a gang, it can help you keep a safer distance from people who live that life. So its not stupid. Its vital to know this stuff.
