I swear to god he fucking took care of me coming back from R&R. I was was a PFC, 2009 didnt know my ass from a whole in the ground. I kept getting booted off my flight back to my Unit in Kuwait. He looked at me after 5 days being there at ali ala salem. Looked at the lady and said "me and hims on the next flight out, he hands her his CaC and looks at me and says wheres your ID" I was on the bird and said "thank you sir" cause he was dressed in kakis and a T-shirt, he said dont ever be alone private, you fucking find a NCO and ask for help. Thats my cool story from him.

Never heard this dude more relaxed and laid back than he was in the beginning of this show. It's really nice to see. Nice to hear him say he's trying to be positive too. I'm no war hero, not a veteran either. Just some guy who had a rough life early on, dealt with it poorly and related to the poorly concealed rage and intensity I often saw behind this man's eyes and heard in his voice. Makes me feel like I can achieve some sort of greater peace of mind for myself too. I really appreciate this guy for just existing. He's inspiring in some way to me, and not because he's an efficient killer.

Just saying as former Canadian military... Thanks! I already knew of "Shrek" beforehand, Delta, SEALs, how you Americans operate, organize, you name it, etc. But this interview kind of encapsulates everything about you Americans. The good, the bad and the ugly. Not many militaries around the world are so open or forthright. So good job! 👍

First off. Who here thought the first “snatch job” was a literal helicopter and truck drive to Bagram for pop tarts and beef jerky? (Cuz I definitely did not. Never crossed my civilian mind…). Secondly. While I respect the living shit out of all of these guys that fought and risked themselves to give me my way of life. I like Mike Ritland wayyyyy more than Shawn Ryan’s show. The dude just seems more open minded but also just aware of the BS. He’s not interviewing remote viewing nonsense for instance. Our kids and our people have enough of that conspiratorial shit in their heads. Lastly, this guy John McPhee is AN ABSOLUTE AMERICAN TREASURE. I would encourage all of our kids to watch some of these interviews. Especially this dude. I know watching something like this when I was in High School would have been a huge benefit to me at that age. Great interview. Excellent work. Amazing guest, patriot, warfighter, and man. Awesome shit.

Judging by the look on his face, I think Mike would start to think about previous life decisions if he ever had to share a hide-site with the Sergeant Major, lol. I enlisted in '96 also and actually 'met' the sergeant back pre-9/11, he had been in a platoon with one of our sergeants previously. I wasn't even 21 so yeah, he was a very intimidating and imposing figure to a young Ranger and even then I was glad to know that he was on our side. Carpe Noctem Brothers RLTW

Dude, I joined the Army in ‘92. He was spot on about RIP. Then to 1st Ranger Bat. I don’t recall John in there? But, he would have obviously been younger with a high and tight. And, back then the SEALs had a bad reputation within the Ranger Regiment. The common saying was that an average PIR infantry platoon in the 82nd could out perform a SEAL platoon in Infantry skills.
