Having grown up as a kid in Eastern N Carolina, and eaten at the Sky Light Inn many many times...... watching this and not having any is a terrible form of torture. It is the best bbq. And my mouth is watering. God bless the Skylight Inn.

A great video about family BBQ, but the best advice given was about preserving family recipe's and tradition. Interview your mother or grand mother or aunt or whoever about the favorite foods you grew up eating and put a pen to paper and record it. Practice making it, get a cooking lesson from your family on how to make it proper and for heaven's sake share it with other's, send it by email, give it to your co-workers of make a video for sharing here on youtube. Good cooking is an art form no matter if at home or a restaurant, there will will always be 1 small detail in the preparation or seasoning or cooking technique that makes all the difference in the world to other folks and it will be a Ah-Ha moment for the rest of us to learn.

Heat and smoke is good for meat, but bad for your skin. He might not age well from all that hard work, but it's also doubtful he'll ever have to look hard for a good night's sleep. It's also highly doubtful that he has, or has had, a "diet consisting of very little veggies". Appalachia has historically always been a fairly poor place and meat has, for the biggest part of its history, been a luxury that they typically couldn't afford. And if they could, they could only afford to add in small amounts like salt pork in soup beans, or enough chicken to make chicken and dumplings.
@joshuaeggleston20277 жыл бұрын
