USMC 1970-73. This Marine has most definitely spent many days and nights in the bush eating MRE's. My grandfather served as a marine during WWII in the Pacific and if he were still alive he would definitely be happy that modern marines get much better quality rations in the field. In the worst moments he had to make due with the original Type C rations. Food quality is a huge factor for the troops and until about the last 40 years, military field rations didn't get much better than "edible".
