MUNDY "Celestial Whispers" (for Two Solo Flugelhorns with Piano)

I had planned a special video this week for Epiphany-the part of the Christmas story with the arrival of the Magi bringing gifts for the baby Jesus-but it requires singing, and I have not been in good voice…but hopefully, we’ll have that next week! In its stead, I have a second version of Iain Mundy’s beautiful piece, “Celestial Whispers,” this time in a very comfortable and playable key for trumpet, cornet, or flugelhorn. It is playable by many, many combinations of instrumentalists (including options that work for every brass instrument), and is available in two keys (this one and a lower version). Thanks to my colleagues, Birutė Stundžiaitė on piano, and Dmitry Babkin, sound engineer for their always great work.

Thanks, Callmaster. The first version was nice, but it was pretty high in the range, so the sound was more forward. This was more gentle. I prefer this too…but once in a while you have to prove you can play high, just so they don’t assume you can’t!
