MUNGPOO
The Rabindra Museum, situated in Mungpoo near Kalimpong, West Bengal, India, holds historical significance as the former residence of poet Rabindranath Tagore during 1938 and 1939. He was invited by the eminent poet and novelist Maitreyi Devi, wife of quinologist Dr. M.M. Sen. Tagore, a Nobel laureate, frequented Mangpu during 1938-1940, often lodging at Maitreyi Devi's home. Her husband, Manmohan Sen, then directed the quinine factory in Mangpu. Today, the bungalow, now Rabindra Bhavan, serves as a museum exhibiting Tagore's photographs, paintings, writings, and personal belongings. Additionally, it showcases furniture crafted by Rathindranath Tagore. Maitreyi Devi immortalized Tagore's stay in her book "Mangpute Rabindranath."
