Munich

We were getting into Munich around noon, so decided to go downtown first to see the sights and eat at the Hofbrau house. Birthday Lunch! We first located the hofbrau house, then identified parking near the Bavarian Opera House. We then walked to the Feldherrnhalle, Frauenkirchen, Marienplatz (with old and new city halls), before arriving at the Hofbrau house.
We ate at the Hofbrau House, and I enjoyed a liter of HB original. We got a dessert and Thu got her large pretzel. We then completed this leg by driving to the hotel Laimer Hof next to the Nymphenburg Palace. I will spend the next day exploring the palace grounds, while Thu visits the botanical gardens next to the palace grounds.
We had dinner at the restaurant that is actually a part of the palace buildings. I had duck and Thu took a liking to my dumplings (we came back the next day for more). This was a great way to end my birthday.
Last full day in Germany. Today we will spend a relaxing time near our hotel. Thu will visit the botanical gardens next to the palace grounds while I will spend my time exploring the palace grounds themselves. After breakfast, I walked with Thu down a lane to a point where we entered the palace grounds. As we were passing thru the palace ground, we came upon a photographer. I thought that he might be taking photos of birds, but to my surprise it was deer. They were bedded down about 50 feet from us. We continued thru the palace grounds to the botanical gardens, where Thu was going to explore. I returned to the palace grounds and spent several hours walking thru nature.
We had lunch and dinner at the restaurant on the palace grounds. We also spent time feeding local birds in front of the palace. All in all, it was a very rewarding day.
