An wild elephant got spotted at Munnar, Started interrupting the vehicles on the way. The wild elephant only tries to attack but luckily all the vehicles got escaped.

A wild elephent that coolly stands by the side of the road creating a traffic chaos as vehicle owners turned confused as they were watching the movement of the tusker anxiously as they are optimistic that it may makes its way back to the forest any time. Some have taken their vehicles quite close to the spot where the elephent stands, awaiting "clearance" from the Jumbo Elephent and some were bold enough to take their vehicles despite the presence of the angry elephent moving towards them. This kind of incidents are very common in these areas where wild animals laze around and appears on the stretches of the road terribly inconveniancing the road users.

Hello Vivek. My Name is Nibha Namboodiri. I have been working for the welfare of Asian elephants for almost 20 years now. I have watched hundreds of such footages on u tube before and felt depressed and sad at the insensitivity of our public towars animals - particularly elephants. Today I felt I must react to the episode itself and the many commentsbelow. Whether you like it or not you must understand that the kind of behaviour displayed your group members and the rest of the public that were watching the elephant on the road were inappropriate and insensitive. When faced with an elephant on the road the sensible thing to do is to quietly move away and wait until the herd or elephant moves away. You were all behaving like you were watching a show. Laughing, mkaing such nasty comments, talking loud. The behaviour of the biker, the other vehicle drivers were unbeleivable !. Why do you do this ? How can you laugh and be so insensitive to that poor elephant !! Elephants live such difficult lives in our forests. They have to wander around everyday for food, water, space and safety. We have built roads inside their homes, thus making it difficult for them to move around or live in peace. Elephants are peace loving animals and usually avoid human contact as much as possible. Unlike humans they react aggressively only out of fear and defense. Padayappa is far better than Govindachami or other criminals. he is not some terrible criminal out to murder people. he is just one poor elephants trying to live a normal life like all of us...in this crazy world. So please...I apppeal to you. Next time you come across an elephant on the road, treat him with some respect.

vivek thank you for responding. i have never commented on u tube posts so i really donr know how it works. please understand i have nothing against you personally and i would say the same things to anybody else who did wrong to elephants. Its painful to watch this situation happen dy after day. people misbehaving and treating our beautiful wildlife and nature with disrespect. i dont think you or anybody else does anything intentionally. often people do things cos they dont know. however a mature person tries to realise the wrong and keeps himself from repeating it again. i am sorry if i hurt your feelings. but its just that i feel more for poor padayappa. hope we will meet someday and make peace.

Thanks PC Maniac! I guess I may have quoted wrongly, but thanks for inspiring me about elephants in Kerala! I have mostly seen videos of attack by an elephant! i do know for sure they're also docile creatures, and respond with love, to owners that keep them. I thought how cute is that! But if an elephant is provoked, then there will be trouble. Animals also have emotions and feel pain, many people think otherwise. I've seen kids or even adults taunt animals on the street in India! thank you for your lovely invitation to your country, but my days of flying is over! the things they get on with at airports is not for me anymore! I'm done with that!
