I always knew from watching this sketch on the "Muppets Magic" DVD that something was wrong. During the "With a Little Help From my Friends" segment the soundtrack is replaced by music and dialogue from earlier in the sketch that doesn't fit. Nice to finally hear what was actually performed during that brief snippet. Also somewhat understandable that it wasn't used on the DVD, most likely it would have cost a lot of licensing fees to pay for roughly five seconds of the song.

This reminds me coming back watching muppet inserts from Sesame Street in the 70s on KZbin starring Ernie and Bert lefty the salesman & the main characters growing up after I’ve got the muppet show season one Connie Steven’s Ernie and Bert sex violence muppet show 1975 pilot

I just realized that you were probably referring to Jimmy Dean and Rowlf singing "Friendship" on The Ed Sullivan Show and not on The Jimmy Dean Show. Unfortunately, I do not have their Ed Sullivan Show performance of that song.
