Simply my favorite youtube channel for working! Ben, you tell these stories so beautifully. I bought David Gann's The Wager and it was one of the best reads I've had since reading The Wreck of the Medusa (also your recommendation) and now I am half way thru Gann's Lost City of Z. You have the most amazing taste in books!

Thank you. This was a horrifying yet interesting and complicated case. So many weird & disturbed people on board! My opinion is that Charlie Brown didn't report the murder because he did not see it through the window. I believe he lied about seeing the murder because he was afraid of being accused. He lied about not being able to leave his post because he was afraid of being accused. But the things Bram did such as disposing of the murder weapon and wanting to throw the bodies overboard. The witness from another ship with no reason to lie testifying that Bram wanted to murder a captain and take over the ship plus other things indicate to me Bram was the murderer.

On Brown, I think it's worth considering that he was among the first suspected, and given his behaviour may have had mental health issues and a past incident, that he might be aware it would increase suspicion against him. Brown claim to having seen Bram later into the investigation, is it possible he lied on both accounts to defend himself, but not necessarily to cover up the murder? Perhaps he didn't raise the alarm because he genuinely wasn't aware that there'd been a murder, but after being informed and then experiencing the suspicion against him, "helped" point the finger in what he'd might believe was the right direction. There have been controversies over witnesses being pressured into misremembering events in the past. I'm not sure which of the two is more likely to have done it, since the nature of the case lends itself to erratic behaviour on all parties, and inconsitent accounts. Isn't there also the matter of Brams allegedly sabotaging the records?

I can't take this episode seriously when one of the main characters is Charlie Brown.

Is there a reason you don't post one episode per month instead of in sporadic groups? Just curious.

You make them when you feel like it. It is becoming the norm for more discerning channels :)

I'm not sure if there's a strict schedule but the episodes are uploaded more frequently, one by one on the audio platforms.
