I have had a Pontiac since I was 15 years old and not only still have the car, but have added 3 more to the family since. You can build horsepower cheaper with a Chevy but Pontiacs are torque machines from hell by design. Go kick some ass you guys!!!

You hit the nail on the head Randy Davis about the main bearing diameter of the 455 at 3.25" vs the 400 at 3.00". Once upon a time there were no other ways to make the cubes until the 3.00" stroker crankshafts came along. I'm building a 400/461 stroker myself and will be talking to the guys at Butler Performance for their parts and knowledge.

When I worked Top of Staging 20 years ago at New England Dragway, we had a few guys w/really nasty street Legal cars. One guy had an Omni hatchback w/a blown 440 in it that ran low 8's in the 1/4mi... WITH NO WHEELIE BARS. "Mountain Man" Steve Jolie who looked like his name. Another guy had a Chevy II w/a blown 400 small block w/full exhaust that was about as fast too. His license plate said VROOM. lol
