Murdered by Scottish Midges in the Mennock Pass

The last time I camped in the Mennock Pass my gear got totally trashed by foul weather, but this time it was that most dangerous off all Scottish wild life the Mighty Scottish Midge. It is so small that most of the time you can’t see it, but it is there and it is a vicious little bugger.
That aside the Mennock Pass is a great spot for a camp out, just keep well away from the river, particularly early and late in the day.
Still take tried and tested Midge repellent and netting just in case.

I went camping in Scotland back in 2021, and I still have nightmares about the midgies!!! Glad you got some decent sleep. I think I'll add the Mennock Pass to the list of places to visit next year when I'm living in the UK.

@@wanderwithmac I used to have a big old 740, it was perfect for the car camping. So comfortable wi the back seats flat, and an airbed in the back, just needed a lot of curtains!. Tried an airbed in the back bed of the l200 but it’s no long enough and the wheel arch gets in the way. I’ve got an old land rover but it’s the 88” and I’m 6’4 so that nae use either !
