The RNLI are there to save lives. Not to get involved in political and asylum claims. Each member might have their own personal feelings on this, but they remain professional because they have a job to do. Do I agree with people crossing into the UK via dinghy’s, of course not. Do I agree with us housing them over UK residents? Not a chance. But I don’t blame the RNLI for doing their job either by saving lives regardless of race, creed or colour.
@jameswright423610 ай бұрын
They wouldn't have to though if our leaders actually did their jobs properly and stopped such crossings before they even set off. The French turn a blind eye to the problem because they see it as an issue solving itself. There needs to be an amendment to asylum and Refugee laws where avenues are opened more widely for claims, but only in the first country you arrive in that is a signatory to the UNHCR as opposed to picking and choosing where you claim.

@@23davidian96 Ever think about why France would choose to keep them all and let us get off easy? Does that make logical sense to you?
@Gortinthefields9 ай бұрын
@@23davidian96 You've posted this like 50 times on this one video. What does this even mean? Are we sending them to France? Working with France to stop them coming in? Do France want to send them to us? Declining a migration centre in France means legitimately nothing when you have no shortage of migrant services in the UK. 🤷♂

In the summer of 2012 I bought a lovely signed photograph of the lifeboat at Dungeness. There was a little shop in the boathouse that sells them. Nearby is Derek Jarman's former home with its beautiful garden.

The RNLI is just an illegal immigrant taxi service these days. If the man had just plead asylum he would have been put up in a hotel

Then it may be a good idea if the RNLI ceased People traffiking into OUR country
@ThePieIsNotALie10 ай бұрын
I assume you don't donate, so congrats, you're already doing your part! "As a charity, the RNLI is funded primarily by kind donations. 94% of our total income comes from donations, with the remaining 6% coming from income sources ..." Did you miss the part where the RNLI communicate with the COAST GUARD? QQ at HM Coastguard (under Secretary of State for Transport, fyi ) The Coastguard rescue people coming INTO the country, the RNLI help people who weren't intending to leave! (And this baffoon.) Coast guard probably wouldn't of gotten there before the plonker was underwater. Leave the RNLI out of your fever dreams. Christ, you'd probably tell all the "foreign" NHS doctors to pack their bags, causing critical understaffing, after years of underfunding, so long as someone waffled something patriotic in your general direction.

The almost exact same thing happened in north America. If you look up Oregon coast guard boat collapse. A man wanted for crimes in Canada fled all the was to the Oregon coast in the United States. He then stole a boat, but called for a mayday when rough waves make him take on water. The coast guard saved him seconds before a huge wave flips the boat multiple times. Hours later authorities figure out who he is. He also put a dead fish at the door of the house that was used in the movie The Goonies 🤷♂️

I am disgusted that people are basically saying defund the RNLI. Whether you agree or disagree with what goes on in the Channel, do you seriously think that is the only place that they carry out their work? There is a huge amount of coastline in Britain, and thousands of lives have been saved because of these brave and selfless individuals. A small number of RNLI personnel will have picked up even one illegal migrant, yet you treat them all the same? You also condemn thousands to a ghastly death because there is no funding for the RNLI. Disgusting!

People accusing the RNLI of trafficking are ridiculous. The RNLI are governed by law, and would be in serious trouble if they allowed someone to die at sea. If the RNLI pick an immigrant up, they get in contact with the relevant authorities. Little fact for you all: around 70% of migrants picked up by the RNLI are deported back to their countries of origin.

"In December 2023, the Home Office revealed that only 408 non-Albanian small boat migrants have been returned to their home countries since 2020." To put that into perspective more than 500 crossed this Wednesday. And another fact: "In 2023, the most common origin region of asylum seekers was Asia and the most common single nationality was Afghan."

Why are people complaining about letting murderers into the country? He was based in Newton Heath and was wanted for murder, now he can face punishment for his crime instead of walking free in France. Morons.
