Trust me you will want ppe. Im currently experiencing the consequences of inhaling muriatic fumes from a leaking bottle in a garage i spent 7 hours in, i didnt even know what was happening until it was too late. The first symptom of poisoning i had was excessive salivation, then sweating profusely, muscle spasms, vomiting, drop in blood pressure to the point where my skin turned blotchy and blue in places. The worst poisoning ive had in my life, atleast your outdoors, but i recommend a ventilator

As someone who used to clean pools and worked with muriatic acid if you are pouring it directly into something without diluting and water wear a mask

Flash rusted immediately unless they coated or sealed it. Its only good for cleaning stainless steel or to clean steel for welding if you dont have a grinder. Why youd have acid and not a grinder.. i have no idea. Unless you need all the material cause you have none to spare. Anyway. Steel will flash rust. Stainless not so much. It'll surface rust, but if you heat it with a torch and blue the metal It'll form an oxide layer (doesn't have to be blue, can be brown cause both are oxidized layers)

The phosphoric acid in any Cola might do the same for light rust, a lot more safely, but takes longer.

It will eat rust very fast..however the flash back of rust will be double..the best way is to add water..the best iv found to clean rust, is hydrochloric acid..works fast and I use vinegar to neutralize..

Wrong! 1. Muriatic acid is hydrochloric acid, albeit not quite as pure. Effectively the same thing as far as rust is concerned. 2. Weak acid (vinegar) doesn't "neutralize" a strong acid, it just dilutes it. 3. Rust only returns because you've stripped away the existing oxide layer along with any galvanizing, oils, etc. Has nothing to do with the addition of acid. Best to use a SMALL quantity of dilute muriatic, and neutralize with dilute baking soda until any reaction ends. Rinse and protect with oil, paint, etc. I use this method to remove zinc galvanizing for welding prep.

@@Dtr.gazzy951doesn't really matter. You could sprinkle the baking soda in as is but water could help to prevent it from foaming and heating up too much
