So if your son had an accident on the open road you would ask to ban cars on the road, a beach is considered a road for police traffic enforcement, we all have phones, if some guy is being a prick call the police, people do it every day on the open rods. Stop banning shit just because some idiot causes a problem, blame the idiot, not us.

No ! Why should the actions of a few idiot's punish other responsible beach users that drive on the beach .

So this is New Zealand now. People die all the time on tractors, quads, other work equipment. I'm thinking we should ban work. We all need to just sit inside playing 4x4 beach driving simulators instead. Also this lady is horrible.

My condolences. It isn’t the vehicles fault, it didn’t cause the accident. It is the driver and how the vehicle was used fault. Banning will punish everyone for the sake of a few idiots. If there is a death on the road, do we ban vehicles on roads? Or horses etc? Young people need somewhere to go for an adventure, can a area else where be set up for 4wds away from Muriwai? If they don’t do it there they will go elsewhere and the problem not solved, just shifted. Can there be some user pays system put in place with maybe a age limit put in place or according to ones driving records? I hate seeing so much of the crazy driving on the beach, and yes something needs to change, but not banning everyone, maybe just the age group most responsible for reckless driving? A lot of families, fishermen, people who walk there pets, horses etc use it. Some drive up to get away from areas of a lot of people and enjoy nature as it’s best. Don’t punish them because of drivers foolishness at times up there.

condolences to the family. people need to people carefull when driving on beach or police it more. that looks like a roll over of either being silly(having FUN in some eyes) or not judging the conditions. Foxton himitangi are shared beaches but people are carefull.

Don't ban vehicles, put a 40kmh speed limit on beaches. Motorbikes probably should be banned, as they are harder to control on sand and are they go fast.

Yes BAN & impound vehicles for 6 months to deter, (many motor vehicle users don't care about bicycles, predestrians, dog walkers, trampers etc.) motorist's already have roads, highways, off road tracks, vehicle meets / rallies, forest tracks etc. Giving them free range on beaches is giving them the ability to destroy more environments. So many bad driver on ours roads and do we want the same on all beaches.

Unfortunately accidents happen and if it was a regular occurrence there may be a reason to look into it but i don't think as she said any reason for blanket banning
