Does a sales tax not in fact do what tariffs do in part? It slows sales (people rush out to buy if an advertisement states “we’ll pay the tax”). And it put more money in government coffers where it sloshes around greasing political skids until the “change” drops out of the machine.

I'm disappointed in this Institute. They attack an academic that isn't even there to defend himself. I've noticed this trend with a lot of the Mises Institute's lectures, in which they criticise intellectuals that they didn't invite there to defend their ideas. Very academically dishonest if you ask me.
