This track appears on the first soundtrack release of music from the twelfth Doctor Who, Peter Capaldi. The score is performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Murray Gold (computer instruments, guitars and synths) and conducted by Ben Foster and James Shearman.
Murray Gold’s phenomenal output as a composer began more than twenty years ago. He has since stacked up five BAFTA nominations (two for Doctor Who) plus three Royal Television Society nominations and a win for Queer As Folk.

This was the compromise cue that Murray composed after director Rachel Tallalay and Steven Moffat wanted to use "I am the Doctor" . Murray said he spent all season getting away from it so came up with this one to placate them.

I would have a kind of "I am the Doctor" fetish if I were him. I think it's the most amazing piece of music ever created in any genre. It's happy, sad and epic in the same time and it never gets old. I've listened to it way before I started watching DW and I'm still not bored of it. But I also love Twelve's theme too.

@@Potto-ek3ww My acceptance of a Doctor, is among other things, based on whether I can look at that Doctor and see that they are still somehow a continuation of Patrick Traughton, or Tom Baker...the Doctor's past selves. There are moments where I can do that with Smith, yes; but they are not as frequent or consistent as the other regenerations.
