I loved this video. I give it a 9/10 but hey, to each there own. This book was about Murtagh and Thorn dealing with there trauma and changing there names (there identity) to be a hero instead of an oath breaker and not a true dragon. They needed this so much to push the next series through. Murtagh is coming to the grips that he was an evil person (remember the slaver and killing the king. Those was his decisions). He is also extremely hard head. Twice as much as anyone else in the books (remember not wanting to tell Eragon about his reasons not wanting to go to the Varden. Remember not willing to listing to Eragon about killing the slaver and or even hearing him out on the plateau. His reasoning was that he always was a good person so he can’t change). He needed to go through something like that to get through his thick head. Do you think that if he was barely tortured that would have worked. Hell no. Chris knows his characters very well and something of this nature would have only worked for Murtagh to see the folly of his ways. So with that said. I don’t mind the torture being drawn out. The new main villain will be the entity under the mountain. I think the dreamer under the mountain is an entity like the Mona Tree (the forest), Dwarf god (god of earth), the dragon at the elf ceremony (god of air), that appears through out the series. All these beings don’t use the ancient language to cast magic. As we know. Magic without words is stronger and more potent then with words (it is just unpredictable and could kill you if a thought goes astray). The dreamer entity will require the assistance from the gods and the riders to defeat. Murtagh and Eragon will both need to master magic without words. I think the gods are going to train them and or assist them to achieve that. I also believe that in the next series Murtagh will be the main character. He has a lot more room to grow than Eragon. By the end of the next series. Murtagh and Eragon will be at or close to the same level. Also, now Murtagh is a brother of a urgal. Eragon is a brother of a dwarf, next step is to make Roan a brother of an elf. I think it would ether be through Eragon marrying Ayra and or another process. Remember the story is always will be about the three brothers.

Also, the dreamer god (aka the entity under the mountain) can make you see livid dream awake or sleeping. Eragon first time getting the dream while awake was in about the same area as the colony. If you look at the map he would have been only a league if that from where Christopher put it. The second time he got the day dream was in the burning planes. Hence the burning planes covered in brim stone. Sounds familiar???. What if (and I am just speculating) that the dreamer god is the one who gave Eragon those dreams of leaving. Cause of those visions, pushes Eragon to leave therefore due to the dreamer god. I know what you are going to say. What about Anglia fortune telling. Well cause of the dreamer god influence. Rather or not Anglia made the fortune telling or not, still pushes Eragon to leave. Therefore a self fulfilling prophecy. So, I was thinking. How do you bring Eragon back when he was supposed to never return. Well by a false prophecy pushed by the entity under the mountain. Once Eragon realizes this, he is going to be pissed. It also allows him to return. Another thing this book set up. I only realized this after doing my first read through of Murtagh, then going back and re-reading Eragon, Eldest, Brisinger, Inheritance, The Fork the Witch and the Worm. After that and I looked at the map once I got to Murtagh (2nd read through) getting his first vision during the hunt and they was about a Leauge (close to where Eragon was when he had his) from the cult town. 🤔 I do not think that is a coincidence. Like I said this is a theory. A pretty obvious one now. Surprised no one caught it. But, then again maybe not. I didn’t catch it until I did all of that. Makes room for thought.

@@joshuacoons9517 Interesting theory on the visions, biggest thing though is that I don't think Azlagur gets that specific tbh. Wanting to drive Eragon to leave just feels beneath him tbh. He does NOT care lol. I don't think he sees anyone on the entire planet as a real, tangible threat. Also we've seen Angela go toe-to-toe with Bachel and come out on top, so I don't think her fortunetelling would be impacted at all, especially considering she was no where near the brimstone when she originally cast the bones for Eragon. Paolini is weird for that, I feel like he baits a lot of these theories lol, leaves a lot of stuff open, and honestly that's why I didn't score this book higher. There was SO much in the opening half that wasn't paid off. The werecats, the masks (in any meaningful way), the catacombs, etc. and I STILL want to know what the deal with that Swordswoman is. There is so much left outstanding that are just teasers for future books. Some I don't mind, and even appreciate. Too much just feels like fanservice. That and the pacing are why I couldn't rate this higher.

@@Paul_Todkill I actually think Angela fortune telling is accurate as long as Eragon never found out about Azlagur. Remember, Murtagh was supposed to rise up against the queen. He didn’t do that. So in a way this book is also say the future can change. If you change your name you change your future. Just my two thoughts. This was a stand alone book for three reasons. First to get Murtagh to a place where he can be the main protagonist. Two, to get Chris back in the swing of writing in this world again. Third, to introduce the new big bad. Chris already said the next book that would actually be book 5 is going to start shortly after this one. Sooo, just my thoughts on it.

@@joshuacoons9517 I'd honestly be really surprised if Murtagh takes over that main protagonist slot, my guess is we'll eventually see a pure multi-pov story as the next one. And I wouldn't say that 'overthrow the queen' prediction is remotely off the table. Despite their current relationship Nasuada has a LOT of issues as a ruler. A lot of theories about her eventual descent into tyranny, especially in how she treats magicians. That will definitely cause conflict with her and Murtagh down the road and has been hinted at very heavily. So I think it really comes down to, the underpinning of those petty (in comparison) squabbles under the now MASSIVE looming threat of Azlagur. At the end of the day it's still the World of Eragon, I can't see a world where he's still not the main protagonist in some way. There are a bunch of directions this can go, I'm just stoked to see where he takes it tbh. This felt like a return to form after some... okay but not great Fractalverse books.

@@Paul_Todkill I do agree that there will be some nods and tie-ins to the Fractalverse. But the one that needs the most growth is Murtagh. Eragon already knows how to see all but not know all. He is already fluent in the ancient language. He already is very comfortable using magic without words. He has a half elf half human body. So his stamina is insane. He already knows how to draw life to cast spells (Murtagh isn’t to far off on this one) and he has the support of all the Eldurnari. Eragon is already OP. Murtagh barely knows the ancient language. He only has a human body (so he is nerf compared). He can only focus on one thing at a time. Murtagh is the character that needs the most growth to be relevant in the upcoming battle. The story will (in my opinion) focus on him cause of those things. Will there be chapters with Eragon. Yes!! They will be chapters like there was for Roan from eldest on. So Eragon will be a strong supporting cast. But not the main. Just my two cents.

My favorite thing about the Inheritance cycle and Christopher's books in general is being able to experience his growth as a writer. Even just between each entry in the original series everything evolves noticeably. By the time book 4 comes around the story and world is something entirely its own. Very impressive since it started with something as simple and derivative as Eragon. Plus, Christopher is clearly such a character himself and adds all these silly little details like furry elves and giant snails, its just a delight haha Im excited to see what happens next in the series. I'vrle read some really compelling theories, but I truly think the overall direction everything goes in will surprise us.

Yeah I think at this point it's really anyone's guess. I did get him to confirm on Reddit that there will be some kind of time travel element (not something I'm traditionally a fan of) so we'll see what happens! Either way I'm excited to see sci-fi and fantasy collide.

Titans vs Olympian God's feel with Azlagur and the Dragons 🤔🤔🤔🤔 origin of Dragons/ dragon magics/ ra'zac (taking into consideration 'Breath')

Given how otherworldly they feel, I wouldn't be surprised. There is definitely going to be some cosmic scale 'grand reveal' spanning bother Eragon & Fractalverse. Question is when did Azlagur arrive. Was this planet always a prison or was it added after?? So many directions this can go.
