Amazing. With no decals your carrier looks better painted then my Eisenhower 1/700 I did with decals in kit. Wish I could paint like that. My weakness when doing models. But I get by. Just when I use tape even when spraying it always bleeds thru or runs under the tape even when I think got a good seal of it on the model. My painting stinks. But yours is amazing. Just seeing that job you did on the foul line and center line is awesome No way I could done that. Paint would bled all over each other if I tried that. Heck even with the decals my flight deck markings aren’t as straight as yours..granted the Trumpeter Eisenhower model was the first model I ever did. But I always wanted a carrier of the flight deck I worked on for 6 years of my life, never realized there were models of them till few years bk but since I built that I have built numerous more models, mostly aircraft, few armor, and couple helicopters. Def got the modeling bug now. But still can’t paint as well as most you guys I see online. But man I try..lol.. by way saw a comment were they say they don’t park aircraft on the stern during flight landing ops. That def is correct. You don’t want aircraft anywhere near the landing area during flight ops unless they are being directed up the deck to get to the catapults. Your model would be little more accurate if you just moved the aft aircraft just past the foul line.. we would park aircraft bk there past elevator 3(the patio) and elevator 4 (the finger) during flight ops but only certain aircraft that we could make sure didn’t pass that foul line at any point of the aircraft.. nothing crosses that line during landing ops. They take that extremely seriously. Remember when a friend of mine who was a E4 grabbed a f-14 Pilot (man I miss those jets) but that pilot wasn’t paying attention and walked out past the foul line and even though we were all screaming at him he just kept walking as I ea-6b was calling the ball. So my friend grabbed that pilot by his flight suit collar and yoked him off his ass onto the deck with force to get him off that flight line. Well of course that Commander was furious and wrote my e4 friend up. So later after flight ops that officer had him standing in front of the our division officer, chief, the air boss, mini boss, and captain of the ship. He wanted to have my friend thrown in the brig and kicked out of the navy for assaulting a officer..man we were all worried about our friend..well that worry wasn’t needed.. the captain and air boss ended up giving my friend the whole week off at the next port we hit. Had the officer f14 pilot apologize to my friend and thanked him for saving his life after he was being a dumbass for not keeping his head on a swivel while on the deck. Then he had to come out next day during our f.o.d. Walk down and do another formal apology to him I in front of all the other flight deck personal. And the air boss made a comment about it as he did it over the intercom. So yes that foul line is to be respected no matter who or what you are.. Anyway great job on your carrier.

thanks, mate, about the problem in your painting, maybe you sprayed too heavy, just lightly spray your paint about 6 inches if you're using the spray can, if airbrush, just adjust the flow of paint and avoids too heavy paint lightly spray and wait for a couple of seconds and repeat it 3-times. thanks also for sharing your great story and some advice my friend it's really a big help for me.
@richardbaxter20572 жыл бұрын
Just another thought....once you mask an area, run a light coat of Matt, or clear varnish over it and this will seal those interior edges and prevent that bleed through problem! Particularly useful on those long lines, like the hull ones....👍🏻👍🏻

It's very interesting build especially the fact that you painted all the lines and numerals on to the ship. Just a few things the 68 at the bow goes all the way to the end of the flight. The 68 on the island structure is painted in white as well. The main flight Deck between the white lines that you have on the model is also painted black it's what separates it from the rest of the flight deck. The yellow lines around the elevators on the main flight Deck are yellow but they also have red stripes. Also the main hall and Island superstructure are painted in a light Hazel Gray. Otherwise you did a really remarkable job

@ArdeconHobby4 жыл бұрын
Cardboard is different from plastic, it's a plastic model kit that you can find in a hobby store, it's really a replica of the real ship almost perfectly designed as a model. This can be built with an easy-to-understand instruction manual and you'll notice that parts are almost perfectly fit each other and I'm sure you'll enjoy building it, my friend.

You’re not wrong, but the deck was jam-packed for photo ops. In other words, the staging happened up front to make it look like aircraft was departing whilst the stern was also full. Yes, I’m aware there is an A-6 taking off lol. Minus that, such staging did occur... but you’re right of course. 😎👍
