Right! The actual story was that Musashi jumped off the boat, ran straight at Sasaki Kojiro and literally beat down that sword with his hand carved oar--Sasaki's skull crushed--Musashi jumped straight back on the boat and left, without a word. Musashi never fought another duel.

Majid Ali Musashi is, but mostly a Ronin, while Kojiro is a swordman. Refer them as Kensei(Sword Saint)

They are both Samurai, Musashi doesn't serve a lord so he in "Ronin"(W/O Master), though in this time period the higher echelon of warriors and fighters ("Buge"--martial artists/strategists) were known as "Kensei" when they became buddhist priests after living the life of a swordsman--which like the other guy commented means "Sword-Saint". This is basically two dudes in the top 5 for all of Japan in the early 16th century as far as the guys who could kill anyone who challenged them to do so.
