⁠@@evilmieraI actually quite like the drastic personality shift between Clown and Violator here; the whole “get with the fucking program” line was a funny way to remind Spawn (and the viewer) that this is still very much that sleazy, gross, and vulgar clown following him around, but that drastic personality shift shows that Violator (and, thus, Clown) is NOT to be fucked with. The whole dual-personality thing establishes Clown/Violator as someone who very much plays by Hell’s rules but still harbors deep resentment towards Hellspawns and can and will easily obliterate a Hellspawn that steps out of line should the Malebogia give him the okay.

A little touch I absolutely adore is when Violator speaks with telepathy, it can faintly hear his actual voice physically speaking and gibbering as well You can hear it at 4:07 when he says "hell" twice: first in telepathy, and secondly in his actual voice, and again at around 4:11 when he sighs and makes noises It's a super eery touch that adds to the "wrongness" of the demons in Spawn

I think the movie clown made the clown part of the character too strong. The violator in the movie is a bit too "lol random", while the violator in the HBO series is on point IMO. It's like he's just waiting for a chance to pull the clown skin off and tear someone apart.

Spawn is attacked on a daily basis and therefore, making any movie about him would be very difficult. His story is very deep, and the only real information about him is in comics that are very hard to come by. I believe spawn needs a successful animation reboot. They need to get spawn off of the page so that his name, skillset, powers, story, limitations, his very nature is common knowledge. Once you do that, you can make a mystery horror movie about the thing in the alley. That would be my name for the movie. also this should not be told from the point-of-view of Sam and twitch they miss too much of the action. This should be told by the perspective of one of the bums

This show was ahead of its time in the most literal way. It was (rightly) considered an abject failure in the 90s and that was for many reasons [Aired on 'cable TV', was a *'NOT FOR KIDS'* cartoon, not a comedy, not an action show, etc.] but if it had aired 15 years later, it would have been a smash hit like no other. Todd McFarlane, who started as a janitor btw, truly struck gold here.
