Great video💪 So according to the bi articular muscle theory, incline bicep curls aren't viable? Because its causes the bicep to lengthen at the shoulder joint and simultaneously contract or shorten at the elbow?
@FlowHighPerformance1
@FlowHighPerformance1 3 жыл бұрын
No, incline curls are fine. As long as the shoulder isn't extending while during the concentric phase 👍

Hi Peter in functional anatomy, we said that with the squat that most of the hamstring are in isometric contraction, I would not say that are not being recruited as emg will still show motor unit recruitment, with the short head of BF also undergoing concentric, eccentric contractions as its origin is on the femur and does not cross the hip
@FlowHighPerformance1
@FlowHighPerformance1 3 жыл бұрын
Very interesting points, thanks for the insight. Do you have any studies showing significant hamstrings activity during squats? I would like to look further into this. Also, yes the BF short head only crosses the knee joint but the squat involves knee extension not flexion so it would be recruited anyway 👍

Great video, I got a question: since triceps long head attach shoulder joint and it function shoulder extension, why does it get involved more in an overhead position( shoulder flexed) Shouldn’t we train them when shoulders are extended?
@FlowHighPerformance1
@FlowHighPerformance1 Жыл бұрын
Good question. Placing the arms overhead put the triceps in a more LENGTHENED position. Recent evidence suggests that training a muscle at longer lengths tends to be slightly more hypertrophic. Check out this video for more info on this topic kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3TMopaencyEjtU

7:22 Not sure if I understood this. So according to this theory, an incline bicep curl and a French press is not good for biceps and triceps ?
@FlowHighPerformance1
@FlowHighPerformance1 3 жыл бұрын
No, they are both fine. We want to avoid opposing simultaneous MOVEMENTS, rather than POSITIONS. Ie during incline curls, we want to make sure the shoulder doesn't extend (move backward) during the concentric phase. It is okay for the shoulder to be in an extended position, as long as it doesn't actively extend while the elbow is flexing 👍

@@FlowHighPerformance1 what about drag curls then ? Our shoulder moves into extension during the concentric phase.
@FlowHighPerformance1
@FlowHighPerformance1 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, drag curls are probably not ideal for biceps development 👍

Quick question brother should beginner skinny athletes focus on building muslce where we focus on more reps less weights or focus on strength where we lift heavier weights with lower reps? Which one is best for skinny athletes?
@FlowHighPerformance1
@FlowHighPerformance1 3 жыл бұрын
probably best to focus on muscle growth (6-20 rep range) 👍

@FlowHighPerformance1
@FlowHighPerformance1 3 жыл бұрын
A bigger muscle has more potential to be strong. Build a bigger muscle first and then train it to be strong later. You will also get stronger by doing hypertrophy training as a beginner anyway 👍

@@FlowHighPerformance1 how will hypertrophy aid my vertical jump and speed over strength training as a beginner besides getting stronger? Isn't neural adaptation key to athleticism thus strength training please explain coach im lost and want to know
@FlowHighPerformance1
@FlowHighPerformance1 3 жыл бұрын
You're right, neural adaptations are key for performance. However you need the raw material to actually produce force ie. Muscle mass.

Are all the quads muscle activate in the squat?
@FlowHighPerformance1
@FlowHighPerformance1 3 жыл бұрын
Rectus femoris not maximally active during squats. All quads will be maximally recruited during leg extensions 👍
