I love the stance of this car. I know it’s a drag racing set up but that ride height & tire size/profile is just spot on imo. Would love to have that look on a street camaro👍.

I'll never EVER forget her!!!! I met her around 2001-'02, she was just as beautiful in person as you could imagine she'd be. The Gentleman who she was with at the time had her, a yellow Yenko (#7) '69, & the "matching corresponding" (#7) '02 Yenko Camaro. It was the last day (Sunday) of the "Super Chevy Show" back when it was held at the McCormick Place, back home in Chicago. He & I talked damn near until some of the other people were starting to breakdown their displays in order to load up their Ladies for the ride back to their destinations...

69 ZL1 is my all time favorite big block Camaro. 67 Z28 is my all time favorite small block Camaro. Give the nod to the z28 because it's a much better handling car compared to the big block ZL1 which was basically a factory drag car

Though the Camaro was redesigned for 1970, the 1969 Camaro body was still built during 1970, a result of delays in the production launch of the second-generation. During the 1970 first-generation Camaro run the convertible was dropped, RS headlights were no longer hidden, all models got the smaller rounded-corner grille previously used only on the RS and the taillights were changed to simpler red lenses with a single horizontal trim strip forming two vertically-stacked sections.

The guy he was talking to said it was originally an automatic, but back when this was built and raced it MAY have had a clutch pedal put in it which would have allowed them to run a ClutchTurbo 400 trans .

" went to America in about 1970 I thought it would make a great race car," Jane remembered. "General Motors in Detroit told me there were two available in Melbourne, Florida - this car in Hugger Orange (#33, VIN 610732) and a Le Mans Blue (#52 VIN 620934) automatic for drag racing - so I bought them both."www.tradeuniquecars.com.au/feature-cars/1109/bob-jane-camaro-zl-1-review

ATTENTION ALL VIEWERS: The other viewer here "MTL-ss" was kind enough to share a link to a fascinating article pertaining to these original '69 ZL1 COPO Camaro's, and one of the greatest Australian racers/track owners: Bob Jane, who STOMPED the competition in his '69 ZL1 in Australia. Click the link, see the images & read the ENTIRE article, you won't be disappointed. THANK YOU MTL-ss for sharing this link to the article, I really enjoyed it. Learned a lot from it too. I've been living here in Melbourne Florida since 1969 and I was well aware of the 1960 Indy 500 winner: Jim Rathman, and his Chevrolet dealership here. As a kid, I used to go see some of the cars he would have on display in the showroom. ( hotrods, race winning cars, old classics, etc. ) But I never knew until now, how perhaps the most famous of all Aussie racers traveled all the way here to Melbourne Florida back in 1970 to buy TWO original 1969 ZL1's from Jim Rathman. It was the only 2 that were allotted & shipped to Rathman Chevrolet. Bob Jane took them back to Australia, prepared them for racing, and stomped the competition. Thanks again, and I hope ya get this message after 3 + years.

Steven Faucher According to the guys that raced them those numbers seem to be legit. What the responder left out is those numbers maybe good for one or two passes down the 1/4 mile. Grumpy Jenkins claims that them all aluminum zl1 engines were only good for a couple passes before they had to replace the engine with a fresh one.

69 ZL1 made it out of the factory there were 300 that were scrapped general motors considered these cars a liability because they didn't put a blow proof bell housing in there and an exploding clutch would cut the hinges off the door my father was a pink supervisor in the factory in Norwood I got a red 69 copo cast iron for my high school graduation present drag racing religiously before and a half years never wrecked it never killed anybody but I acquired so many tickets everything except vehicular manslaughter in triplicate and I had there were four kofo Camaros in the little town of Milford that I grew up i to sell the car to be able to get insurance on a new truck what a waste I believe the man by the name of Pete Estes at general motors had to do a whole lot with this car
