0:00 Introduction
4:03 De Quervian Tenosynovitis
is inflammation of the tendon sheath located on the radial side. The tendon encapsulates the abductor Pollicis Longus & Extensor Pollicis Brevis. If acute inflammation is present treat the area as local contraindicated. Once swelling has gone down treat with light effleurage gliding & stretching always staying within the clients pain tolerance.
5:47 Tension Headaches
can be a disorder or a symptom of other underlying conditions. There are several types of headaches including tension, sinus and hormonal. Tension being the most common one. Muscle tension or imbalance of neurochemicals like Serotonin or dopamine are the main causes for tension headaches. Make sure to address the sub occipital muscles aka as the ghost headache muscles. Effleurage, Petrissage and gliding can be used on the neck and shoulders.
7:04 Fibromyalgia Syndrome
has tender points in localized areas along with widespread pain, fatigue, joint stiffness and restless sleep patterns. Massage must be tailored to how the client is feeling that day. Massage may reduce pain, anxiety and improves sleep quality. Effleurage, Petrissage, friction can be used for a full body massage.
7:04 Myofascial Pain Syndrome
is characterized by myofascial trigger points & muscular pain. They have palpable nodules in taut bands within the muscles. It’s important to receive feedback from the client as you’re working on them to be able to stay within their pain tolerance. Effleurage, Petrissage and trigger point release are indicated.
9:16 Osgood-Schlatter Disease
is patellar tendinitis on the tibial tuberosity of immature bone. Usually in teens between 11-13 years old. Repeated stress & overuse may cause pain & swelling. Once swelling has subsided you may treat with light effleurage and Petrissage in all muscles surrounding the knee. Specially the patellar tendon.
10:35 Plantar Fasciitis
can be very painful caused by inflammation and stretching of the plantar surface of the foot. While acute inflammation is present treat the area as local contraindicated. After applying ice & swelling has gone down you may massage the leg & foot muscles. Massage the Calcaneal tendon (Achilles tendon) and all surrounding muscles.
12:00 Shin Splints (AKA) Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome
It is described as pain along the medial tibia. Commonly found with runners. Overuse of the Tibialis Anterior muscle. While acute inflammation is present treat as a local contraindications. Once inflammation has subsided you can massage the Tibialis Anterior and related leg muscles. Dorsi flexion and Plantar Flexion may help stretch out the muscles. Ice massage can also help relieve pain.
12:43 Strain (AKA) Pulled Muscle
is when a tendon or muscle are overstretched or torn. There are 3 different categories of strain. Massage is contraindicated when there is swelling or bruising present. Once swelling has subsided you may proceed with light massage of effleurage & Petrissage to all related muscles. Type 3 strain must have a doctor referral. This is a complete torn tendon or muscle and massage is contraindicated.
14:45 Torticollis
is a group of disorders spasms in the Sternocleidomastoid muscle along with Splenius Capitis and Scalenes. Usually caused by sleeping wrong, bad posture (looking down). While acute inflammation is present massage is contraindicated. Once it’s gone down the client can benefit from moist heat, effleurage, Petrissage light stretching to the SCM and related muscles.
16:25 Tendinitis, Tendinosis, Tenosynovitis
Tendinitis - inflammation of a tendon
Tendinosis - is degeneration of a tendon

The series pathologies are classical, tailored for massage therapists. They are of great instructive and constructive importance and well worth learning and considering before an actual treatment. Your channel is my encyclopedia Maria. Many many thanks. Dimple's Day 21 check in.

Frailing - to become frail. It sounds good, and I completely understand what you mean, however it's not a word. The tendons fray. Fraying is the word you're going for. ❤❤ Love this new series!

You just made my day. Greatly appreciate your compliment! It has been an effort to continue during and switch things a bit. I’m focused more on students at the moment since we’ve had to go virtual. It’s hurts my views on KZbin however that’s where I’m at for now. I’ll eventually get back to more massage videos as well. I truly appreciate your support. Create a great day
