Yeah, I'm alternate picking that whole part. I've watched Matthew play it on a few videos and it looks like he alternate picks it too. That's why it's a little tricky. You can get away with doing some hammer-ons with the first 2 notes, or you could hybrid pick it, and you use your middle finger to pluck the last pitch in each group of three.

It might take you some time to get it up to tempo, but it should be doable for a beginner. It is possible to play on acoustic, if you have a cut-away body to access the higher frets. The bends might be tricky on an acoustic too, but you can slide instead to get the same note. Just be patient, and you'll have it down in no time.

Hey @guitargabe79 Great video, but I wonder if your picking up and down when you play the notes on the 12th and 13th frets?(because what I do is pick downward when playing those notes and I usually accidentally hit the wrong string, and I'm just wondering if I should pick upward and downward when playing those notes.)
@gabe_teaches_guitar10 жыл бұрын
Hey, yeah I'm alternate picking the whole thing. If you watch around 3:50, I do it really slow and you can see my picking constantly going d u d u d u ....etc.
@BadCompanyGaming10 жыл бұрын
Okay, what type of guitar pick would you use for alternate and speed picking?
@gabe_teaches_guitar10 жыл бұрын
Bad Company173 Any heavy pick will do, but I like jazz picks - they're smaller, super heavy, have sharp tips, and are easy to control than your standard size picks - Dunlop Jazz III's are great.
@BadCompanyGaming10 жыл бұрын
okay thanks
@GroovesAndLands9 жыл бұрын
I'll bet Muse plays this in an alternate tuning to make it easier. That stretch to the 18th is really tough for most people to handle at the songs tempo.
@gabe_teaches_guitar9 жыл бұрын
+GroovesAndLands I've watched him playing it live and he does the stretch.

I can´t get the tone of the music with a fender tele and a frontman 15g amp! Anyone know if it´s possible and can give me an ideia of how?
@trDewy8 жыл бұрын
Luis Filipe Ferreira maybe try middle pickup position, tone knob in the middle, treble and mid set to 10, bass set to 6, gain on 7 or 8, and volume knob on your guitar turned all the way up? That'll probably get you pretty close.
@41ex4ndr011 жыл бұрын
Hi! Very good tutorial, but I have one question. How to use the pick in the "tricky" part?? I mean, we play groups of 3 notes, do you use alternative picking?
