Led Zep RULZ!!! Monsters of the late 60's and 70's, Legendary now!! Those killers had so much chemistry together.. Bonzo was such a HEAVY player, I'd swear those 'skins would bust if he'd put an ounce more pressure on them, a powerhouse groove giant.. They'll never be another Bonzo and his power prowess behind the drums are once in a millennium. Sorry Tim, killer video BTW!!! Led Zeppelin Forever!!!

that is some serious musicianship!! to me it seems that tim is more a musician than a guitar player, i mean he's spot on, can lock into the groove, brings ideas, arrangements, and his guitar playing cant even be questionned, i mean come on, the producer cant ask him to play better right? amazing

I've been listening to Whole Lotta Love for 50 years and it took me till this year when I found an isolated track to realized he does a slight slight variation of the main riff when he does the outro. Holy cow, this song is 50 years old.
@danielcarmichael89613 жыл бұрын
Apparently that's the 'happy ending'. There's a classical composer (Carl Baldassarre) who breaks down the whole song, and he said that Jimmy added the G# to the riff in the outro, turning the chord into an E Major, which is 'happy and fulfilled'. That's just his interpretation, but it makes a whole lotta sense in the context of the song : ) The variation is much more prominent in the 73 live version at MSG, you can't miss it

Again, this is so awesome to watch. I've never gone into studio but recorded lots of guitar parts at home for games etc, and often end up doing it in bits or playing a single chord and cutting it in for the perfect strum. I always felt this was cheating and I should be able to get it 100% in one take. But if Tim works like this, I embrace it.

Thanks, yes, I just watched the Joe Walsh secret reveal video! Actually, I wonder whether it was a 'painter's accident' and Jimmy double tracked the opening riff, on the second pass putting the bend in that he didn't on the first. Just wondrin'.

Great playing Tim! Question regarding the main riff....there are some that swear (Joe Walsh) the trick to what Jimmy did there was to play the D on the 5th string 5th fret and bending it a tiny bit sharp while simultaneously playing the open D string. It sounds about right to me when I play it but I can't help feeling that maybe that effect was caused by tracking the same part multiple times. What do you think? Love all your work BTW!

+Buddy Martin I am not sure if they are using digital equipment, however, nowadays, you play a part or the main lick and they are able to cut and paste the part where it belongs. Tim is a top notch player, however, the reason why the younger players fucking suck is, due in part to the fact that they use technology instead of having chops like Tim, Steve Lukather, Neal Schon, or we'll go back further...Tommy Tedesco, James Burton and yes, Glenn Campbell.

I hate to be picky, as you're obviously a great guitarist, but you're not playing the main riff quite correctly. When Page plays the D fretted note at the 5th fret of the A string he's also playing the open D at the same time while bending the fretted note (up away from the D string), creating a dissonance. Page revealed this in a guitar magazine. It's a subtle difference but it makes all the difference. I always wondered why nobody ever quite captured that riff until Page let the secret out. For some odd reason he changed the way he played the riff live after the first year or so, and it never sounded as good.
