Agreed! Though, I'd say _with_ (rather than by) - I like hearing the members of Muse blend and collaborate, basically. I'd be especially interested in hearing the percussion in a song like this morphed into a smoother 'less flashy' form. 'Flashy' and 'big' percussion is certainly a substantial tradition for "marching bands". But, I'm finding so many rhythms in more popular / modern music kind of boring - 'flash' (in 'ornamentation' &/ timbre etc.) over more 'interest' in fundamental structure &/ interplay with the other voices. Even just hearing the type of drumming "marching band" drumming largely evolved from is appealing - stripping some of the flash and sense of drawing quite directly from the original, say. I love this rendition of the song - really grabbed my attention the first time I heard it. I'd love more and more variation / experimentation. But then, this song, AFAIK, is about literally that - fans / audiences constantly wanting more. And Muse already seem to quite clearly hew to a seriously grueling schedule, standards, etc. So, in a way, I suppose this comment is now a great example of what Bellamy was channeling in writing the lyrics here.

chiffmonkey thanks for this. I actually interpreted it as a slightly different story. After “pressure” it splits into two stories. The Terry Cruz story and the Matt Belamy story. Terry’s story ends at the final part of “algorithm,” with him sacrificing himself but succeeding in his goal to stop the infection. Matt’s story ends at the final part of “dark side” with him exiling himself to stop the spread of a different infection(werewolf). He does NOT succeed, as something is still able to kill the final cop. Also, in “thought contagion,” it’s interesting to note that the infected from the original outbreak have evolved, and are able to disguise themselves. This is why I love muse. Even when viewed in the same order, they are open to interpretation.

I'm fairly convinced that Matt is the god of the Simulation Theory game. His appearance in Pressure trickles down to form the propaganda of the Dig Down layer, which returns to haunt Terry Crews atop the heaven stairs. In the premonition thing in get up and fight its like a glorious city instead - like the one matt finds in Dark Side

I've gone through all alternate versions and i must say i love all of them and even some more than its original counterparts. However and I'm not complaining, but i need to know where's the rest of the Simulation Theory story arch? What happened with all the characters? Where did Terry Crews (The Professor) went? What happened to the girl after finding the master control room in Dig Down? What happened to the survivors at the highschool after the infection happened? IK they're all caged in a simulation, but did they all been reset? Did they break through that simulation in the end? All these many questions need answering MUSE! PLEASE!!!
