I've got to agree, this song in particular is nothing but riffs blatantly lifted from various bands throughout the last 30+years of rock. I'd say 95% of the guitar note patterns and riffs could be traced back to other bands.

Yeah indeed, but still, sounds supergreat and heavy ^^

Totally agreed. Sometimes even bands that have absolutely nothing in common feature the same riff. For example, Stoned Jesus - Indian at 00:37 sounds exacly the same as the starting riff from Mando Diao - Sheepdog. Some stoner rock and swedish grunge band ? I think it's just coincidence. The thing is, there's too mutch music in the world xD Maybe one day even the weirdest drumstep will sound the same

I can kind of see why the released the Drones songs the way they did. Psycho- check out this awesome riff every body! This album is going to be heavy. Dead Inside - that said, there will still be some experimentation so don't expect a drop D anthem for every track. Mercy- but a rock album none the less, don't get me wrong. Reapers- just to let you know before it comes out, there is going to be stuff like this that is both experimental and heavy, and everyone seems to agree this is the best track they've released so far, so maybe they were building up to it... I love Muse. And I am about to fall in love with Drones.

Charlie Burnham , this is a Mutt Lange's trick. For example: Back in Black (AC/DC), Rocket (Def Leppard), All I Want Is You (Bryan Adams), when the guitar riff stops, the voice comes forward. Mutt Lange is a genius.

If I see anyone complain, I'm gonna flip a table. We have the complex lyrics that Psycho lacked. (Not very complex, but better than Psycho) We have the guitar riffs that Dead Inside lacked. Plus we have one of the sexiest bass lines in history. I love the chorus too! And that outro just kicks ass, especially live! I hope the rest of the songs on the album will be just as good, even though I like the others too!

TYFLOL "You rule with lies and deceit, and the world is on your side" and the rest of the lyrics is more complex than anything in Psycho. totally true man, I'm sorry for my rude comment earlier. The thing is that, in my opinion, Black Holes and Revelations has so many more good and innovative songs than Drones. For example, Psycho's main riff is a riff that the band has been playing for over 10 years and for example... take the intro of the song "reapers" and now listen to Van Halen's intro of the song "Hot for Teacher". I'm not saying is a bad album, but Black Holes and Revelations had so much more than this one that I find it profoundly difficult to compare them. Sorry again for the rude comment and I hope you have a good day! (: xxx!

TRUTH! I listen to a bunch of genres of music, but mostly all-- at their foundation, a form of rock music. Not rap, not hip hop, etc. (unless you count one-off tracks like Break It To Me, for example)... A lot of older people definitely just cut themselves off and refuse to even give new music a chance, and I don't mean mainstream American pop... but alternative rock, more hidden gems kind of bands. Stuff even like White Lies (their album "Friends", for example), or The Warning (a band of Mexican sisters doing some pretty sick rock stuff); there's a LOT of great stuff out there. Whether you're a fan of 70's prog rock, there's prog rock bands out there today. Or if you like 80's pop rock, many alternative bands pay homage to that sound, even including Muse. It's definitely harder to come across, but great music still definitely exists, in addition to the all time greats from the 60's, 70's and 80's

As a drone operator, seeing the Predator drone just hovering is hilariously unrealistic yet terrifying. My guess is they probably shot this with a Phantom drone with a specialized thermal camera. I thought it was the Mavic Enterprise at first, but the Mavic only came out in 2016, and this song was released a year before. As a Muser, fuck me, this is the best song off of Drones. The main riff is kickass, but that guitar solo is definitely one of their best guitar solos in their entire discography.

At 5:21 in the video, you can see in the bottom right corner the drone is marked as HE-3 Drone. The first part (HE-3) could be a reference to The 2nd Law as the song Explorers mentions fusing Helium-3, or He-3. That or I read it wrong.

I like the fact that in the video clip the drone is ever following, just stalking you from a distance but big enough so you can see it. In reality they are much worse. They can fly at 3 kilometres above you, zoom in soo much they could count your hair, make no sound and thanks to their size you will never see them. They are so scary that USAF made the Pakistan kids fear the blue sky, as that's ideal weather for drones to conduct their operations.
