@@PaperBenni not combat, but acknowledge. transparency is key to having people know the changes and what can people do about them. even when people don't like it, MuseScore being free also means that people can directly change how the program works and share around the improvements they see, so there are less people not liking it when people are listened to more.

@@nextlifeonearth sure, I have just seen a lot of devs do side-grades or remove features in the pursuit of their design philosophy, while basically shitting on it/talking about it like they improved upon something unambiguously bad, which really rubs it in the face of people that are fans of those features. I'm not saying that's what happening here, people seem unanimously excited, and it's a clear upgrade, I'm just saying this kinda way to reflect on changes is a risky strategy

@@bdstudios6088 tantacrul is not the developer, he's the product manager, that's a bit different, he took this job last year. But not knowing the right click select all similars is a real shame. That "remove all system breaks" I never used or even knew of it existence after years of using MuseScore. I guess mainly because almost none of my sheets exceed 2 pages and my music is written tight to fit on a single page if possible.

This update notice is one of the best product update videos I've ever seen. Not only does it explain the issues with the previous version of the product in detail, it goes into similarly in-depth detail about the improvements on those issues while gong through the process of using the new tools. It's more like a well-done mini-tutorial which gets me excited to use the product. I'm not someone who creates music, but I may just download this just to have the tools to do so if I decide to write a jingle or something.

I find this video fascinating in how Keary isn't afraid to talk about Musescore's older design to highlight how it has changed. It's actually great! For those who know how this stuff goes, I can't really say. But for newer users, they may not be aware that anything has really changed at all, and may not have a great idea of what all is encompased when you say "engraving". You could just show the improvements, but that may not properly convey how big of a change and time-saver this is. By not only showing what you've added, but what you used to have, it clearly conveys the convenience in this feature to anyone, old or new user alike. It's also great that Keary goes into how you can take advantage of the new changes with older scores, or how you can still use the old system or have the flexibility to do what you want. "We made the engraving more convenient for you, but if you don't want to use it, you can just change the engraving rules to 'Custom' instead." It shows a lot of consideration on behalf of the MuseScore team.

Excellent work everyone, this looks great. I've been using Musescore for ever more complicated full rock scores and have had to do a LOT of manual tweaking to get pleasing results. I'm excited to test these improvements out.

​@@pedroaf7223 JTBC so no one gets this wrong: They're working on general VST support - with plugins like Noteperformer in mind. [EDIT: Maybe Noteperformer does need special integration? IDK what I'm talking about lol] Noteperformer will still be a separate proprietary program you have to pay for, and Musescore will still stay free & open source. ;)

The biggest disadvantage of MuseScore in the future might be the lack of NotePerformer support, IMO. Though it's still possible that it could happen, or we get some sort of open source alternative. Otherwise, it might be that neither MuseScore nor Dorico can win over each other. Sure one is free and the other cost $/€ 600, but neither takes subscription. If you are more into using computer keyboard, maybe Dorico is more comfortable (there are many keyboard commands to replace mouse clicks, and potentially spotlight feature as well), but on MIDI keyboard and mouse, MuseScore might be at an advantage because you can customize button layouts, with the same thing only achievable on Dorico with, say a second hand Launchpad that are mapped and with stickers glued on the pads.

Wow, simply wow! Now Musescore seems more of a composition tool, rather than a amateur notation program! I enjoyed everything about the update when i tried it yesterday. I have some improvement tips: - a new soundfont library; - contemporary and medieval music notation support; - less parameters and more visual settings; - a redesign of the Musescore site with dark mode; - Musescore with new color palettes and dark mode. - an updated version of the manual, translated in the main languages (spanish, german, italian, russian and chinese, for example...) For now, I still enjoy the current version and I am looking forward for new thrilling changes and updates! Love from Italy!
