I am challenged to relearn MS after not knowing it well and then not doing it! This is wonderful and very clear. I will need to slow it down to follow along, then your lovely voice will be wonky, but I can deal with that. I humbly suggest talking slower and this learning experience will be vastly improved.

Thank you for the video ive had this on my linux install for ages took one look at it and noped out, this has gotten me started for the first time in using it. i have a question for you. ive gotten really good messing with midi on fl studio but no matter how many times i go through a video or try to read a book on sight reading/notation my brain just seriously shuts down... i really want to learn it with all my heart but i get confused super quick and the brain just has this meltdown.. so my question is can i use MuseScore to learn sight reading/notation?

Question. Do you know of a music software program other than Encore that is "screen" driven while Musescore and Finale that are 'menu" driven? For examaple, in Encore, I can adjust every bar lines' spacing by clicking on the very top of a bar line and drag it left or right to add space to a measure? It appears Passport, the maker of Encore, may never convert the program to 64 bit architecture, needed by the newer Mac operating systems. Can you offer a(some) suggestions? Many many thanks :-)

Hello, Kyle. I have been struggling for a long time to achieve something I need for a special instrument, using my MuseScore. My scores are all quarter notes, advancing one by one with the > key on my computer keyboard. I need my notes all to be 20 seconds long after I hit the >. The following note will play when I release the > and hit it again (just as a piano). That way I set the note duration “manually”. Tempo Stretch doesn’t work since notes will be advancing automatically if the > is kept pressed. Can you kindly help with this issue? Thanks! Julian

II have a big problem: When I try to wrote multiple parts on a single staff, the software defaults to the line with the larger duration. There is no independence of each line. I think it may have to do with those numbers (1-4) which are located on the far right top corner of the page. I cant seem to figure out how to produce multiple lines on a single clef without it always defaulting to the larger duration. I hope this makes sense.

So I'm not new to Musescore, But I am new to the concept of VST. I want to improve the sounds of my music and I'm trying to figure out about these VST software applications. One has caught my eye, JABB 3. So if I purchase and install this product, Will musescore recognize it and then use the sounds directly from that application? I would be able to use the musescore mixer to assign instruments to the JABB instruments? I don't want to make a significant financial investment into something only to find out it doesn't work the way that I am thinking it should. Any advice on using VST with musescore would be helpful.

Yes you can. Select the notes you want to change their head, and in the palette, find "notes heads" and select the one you want :-)

The notation software works entirely offline. There is no page limit (though you might experience some slowing down on larger scores)

Select the measure with the chord symbol that you want to transpose, hit tools, transpose then select how you want to transpose (I like to transpose by interval)

Great video and great explanation. Tho I tried to simply re-write a piece that's on PDF and I can't seem to be able to transcribe the coords completely, for example : there's 3 half-notes on top of each other and a quarter note on top of that, but I cannot add the quarter note, it switches the whole coord to quarter notes. Select the whole desired measure and then use the arrows on your computer to go up or down(it goes a half step each time)

way to pput rests: find the length you want your rest to be. (e.g. if you want it to be one count you can choose crotchet) the, select the dot thing (aka extend the note by half of it's length.) then, insert your dotted crotchet, select it, and press 0. (0 makes the note into a rest)

Try this! I’m on KZbin on an iPad. I go up to the upper right corner of the display. I touch the upper right corner with my stylus (finger?). The KZbin menu comes up. “Tap touch” the 3 vertical dots. Second from the bottom is the “playback speed”. Touch slower than normal. Maybe .75 speed? Maybe .5 speed? Yes, the presenter is faster than I can keep up with also.

Never even used KZbin on Windows10 so I assume it can slow down speech just like the IPad version of KZbin can. (See my answer to Christopher Bird above. SAY! Got question: MuseScore. Can you select “accordion”. Just started learning accordion. Found out you can just enter the chord in, like Gm. Or GM. Or D7 etc. Sort of like a “fake book” somebody said piano players use in a “Saloon” when customers yell out the song they want to hear. Is there accordion score where you just plug in the chord over the measure, or under the measure. Then not even use the bass clef?
