In Focus Shot 001, MetalFRO and Addicted are joined by none other than Mark MSX of The Electric Underground, to taken an in-depth look at Mushihimesama! We pick apart some of the mechanics, talk about the influence the game had in the genre, and the shift it signaled for Cave and their approach to shooting games. Valley of Naausaca was probably the biggest influence as far as design but the moefication was definitely something to try to appeal as many people as possible (after all, Psikyo was doing it so why not). It was a success though. Glad to see you guys working together in an episode. Keep it up FRO and Mark!

Ah, interesting! So perhaps it was what we speculated at one point, two separate developers that came up with the same idea and implemented it relatively close together. I'm only just getting into the Touhou games, so I hadn't played 7 yet. Thanks for the info!

Hang tight glass because we are currently knee deep in discord litigation on where the visible hitbox first appears ha. Possibly Shiki 1. So it could be a similar story as ZUN was a big shiki fan.
