hello! thank you for making this video! i am an engineer who just recently got into growing mushrooms, and your video has showed me so much more potential in mushroom industry. i really appreciate the effort and time you put in this project and please continue to make this series of video.

The intro is great. This is exactly the kind thing that I’ve been through but on a much (much) smaller scale. A CFRobot CO2 sensor, a mofset, a PC fan, Arduino, and two power sources. The PC fan blows air out of the fruiting chamber when the CO2 is over a certain level.

I thought maybe id be able to follow the mushroom man, but then I saw the computer with a clear case, that stunning beard, beautiful face and mesmerizing voice and I knew, I KNEW... there's no way in hell I can code as good as him.

Lol! Mate, I can't code to save myself. The best I got is copy-paste other peoples hard work!

How's it going with the automation?

Hi, so what type of 4-10 mA co2 sensor you end up with?
@OakandSpore3 жыл бұрын
I have a dwyer and a second dwyer! I don't use them to control anything, the extractor fan just runs full time now.

@@OakandSpore how you maintain a balance of humidity in your fruiting room? (pining prefer higher humidity than fruiting)
@Gorkilein Жыл бұрын
Why the heck do you use an esp and then send it to an raspberry? The Esp can do all the stuff needed on its own..... And to change the voltage you simply use an opamp with the regarding positive or negative amplification.
@JOonRails3 жыл бұрын
Crazy, I chose this for my senior project and I've got a fully automated Arduino controlled system now. Humidifier, heater, lights, CO2 monitor that interacts with and controls a fan. I just use a single tub though, I don't have a farm.

Hi. Have watched your setting up a mushroom farm on the video on your web page. I am also in NZ and would like to try this. However would like to try it for personal consumption before getting any bigger. How easy is this to do? Should I size it to say maybe sell/feed 5 families to make it cost effect.? What's the minimum size you can start with without all the gear?

I have a video on mushroom farm setup costs.

Any updates on the raspberry pi automation? Did you end up walking away from it or get it working? Thanks again for sharing your learning 🙏
@OakandSpore3 жыл бұрын
I have removed it and am shifting to Innotech automation.

Hi, I am assuming the setup is a wifi d mini and you are using a tasmota with MQQ interface with Home Assistant on the Pi. My question to you is do you have a schematic I am interested as like you say the cheaper probes are inefficient so this was the missing part in my knowledge. For wiring are you doing this or relying on smart plugs? Dean
@martink97852 жыл бұрын
Oh, ha! Home assistant 😃 I know you moved on to professional gear now. Just ordered an SCD30 CO2, temp and humidity sensor and that'll go onto a D1 mini running ESPhome into HA. It's great watching your progress backwards, apologies for spamming you

Hey Tom, nice video. Can't wait to see this set up in the fruiting room. I have a question. You mentioned that fruiting humidity should be lower than pinning or colonisation humidity. What should humidity be for each stage? Cheers!
@OakandSpore4 жыл бұрын
Mushrooms will happily grow above about 85%, but I've found pinning to be less reliable below 95%. You need to find the balance if you only have 1 fruiting room. That being said, It's less of a problem with shittake in my opinion, they seem to pin pretty reliably.

use resistor voltage divider to drop analog output of CO2 meter into range of ADC of ESP. Two resistors. To drop from 0-10 to 0-5v use two equally-sized resistors, try two 10K in series. One end of the chain tied to ground, the other tied to the voltage output of the CO2 meter, and the center-tap goes to the ADC (0-5v). Good luck!
@neogeo82674 жыл бұрын
on second thought you might need to use different resistors if ADC input is not 0-5V (I think it's 0-3? I can't recall for ESP board) - either way, do the math using ohms law to figure out correct resistors to use. If ESP has ADC input you can make that fly.
@OakandSpore4 жыл бұрын
I put in a 20k and a 10k resistor and used the ADC, got it working last night!

I'm not taking your advice. I am asking for your all's support to get this relayed over WiFi and saving JSON data to the receiving machine, and then I'll have a task automating the uploading of JSON after each success to Digital Ocean where I'll have my Node.js and React.js application running!!! I'll create a really awesome user interface to allow viewing cameras and regulating and administrating all the minimums and maximums for each of the sensors!!! I'm SO on board!!!!

OMG you already have some UI work done!!! Haha!!! I'll create the controls to modify them remotely!!! You were in the same boat as I am! I thank you so much !

A vulture wanted to board a plane, bringing a dead rabbit along with him. He was stopped by a stewardess who told him he could not bring a dead rabbit onto the plane. The vulture told her he could since it was his carrion.

Yeah, and the cost for a decent 0-10 to 4-20 converter is more than a new co2 probe....
