love the info, great job. I'm making my own bags soon for the first time after watching this video I'm confident they will be made properly.

How are you heat sealing heat resistant oven bags?

how did the LC to substrate work out for you ? I have had zero luck.
@cobutengmushroom89373 жыл бұрын
Exactly my thoughts during sterilization! Pressure and steam kill pathogens. If substrate will not be exposed to steam and pressure because it is sealed by the plastic and is crowded it will not be completely sterilized. That is why in medicine, the 'autoclavable pouch' ,for instrument sterilization, has a paper side and plastic side in order for steam to enter the pouch. Just my thoughts since I'm studying dentistry. haha Amazing vid!

Since the contents of the bags is completely raised to higher than the boiling point of water, the steam is created right inside every particle of damp sawdust. So no problem.

Saw a video where a guy used a hazmat suit, TVEK in a 5x7 size to slip in between the bag and it works perfect.

Could lime be dissolved into the 1.4 L of water for cold sterilization? Thx

Can you use stale nuts as a substrate or a supplement to grow mushrooms? No shells or salt.
@HeyRaeSunnyDay2 жыл бұрын
No, they are too oily. Mushrooms don't like it

After u innoculate it, why do you need to add grain spawn ?
@abydosianchulac22 жыл бұрын
They were separate bags: he added grain spawn to some, and a liquid culture to the other.
@MosesMLam Жыл бұрын
@@abydosianchulac2 Is there an advantage over one method over the other? I usually see people go from LC to grain, then grain to the hardwood substrate. It seems that skipping the grain will save a lot of time. Any reason to use grain?
@abydosianchulac2 Жыл бұрын
@@MosesMLam The grain has orders of magnitude more nutrients than sawdust does, so the mycelium is better able to quickly establish itself. It then uses the grain nutrients to feed itself as it spreads into the sawdust.

@@abydosianchulac2 Got it. So it's better generally go to from LC to grain, then grain into the sawdust bag.

how if i use only pellets no bran? is there a big difference in the harvest?
@themyceliumnetwork3 жыл бұрын
yes. pending on the strain of course, most edible mushrooms need a bit of supplementation be it soy hulls or bran.
@Rymorin42 жыл бұрын
@@themyceliumnetwork would I want to add the bran if I am making saw dust spawn for log inoculating do you think?
@themyceliumnetwork2 жыл бұрын
@@Rymorin4 no need for the bran, i would use hardwood plugs for log inoculation though. bugs & animals love to pic the sawdust / grains from the holes.
@Rymorin42 жыл бұрын
@@themyceliumnetwork Okay perfect I have hardwood sawdust from my neighbour and jars of my liquid cultures. I may also try a grain to sawdust transfer but I don't have a flow hood so have to make due with a clean bathroom. I'm sure one of the methods will work. I need it for a workshop I am going to host with some friends! Mycelium is the message.
