People who'd prefer an 18th century french baroque kind of music, has an exquisite taste not just in music, but also in anything.

"Fanfare-Rondeau" was the basis for, believe it or not, the instrumental Punk Rock track "Masterpiece" by the band Adrenalin O.D.

Great video. However, why subtitled King Louis XV (1715-1730) ??????? Louis XV lived 1710-1774 and was King of France from 1715 to 1774. Until His coming of age (majority) in 1723 He was represented by the Duke of Orleans.

Probably an old recording (1960's). Baroque music is not interpreted that way today.

I suppose the common man never heard such music. It was only the elite and wealthy that were graced with this pleasure.
@earlymusicmidi2 жыл бұрын
You may be right especially with the softer, less grandiose chamber music. I think, however, the loud band music may have been used for open air processions to glorify the king and queen when they made their rare public appearances. After all, the French government used every opportunity to project the image of divine kings to the general public more than any other European institution of the period.
@christineribone93512 жыл бұрын
@@earlymusicmidi that may be true also. Mozart and Offenbach wrote lighter, popular operettas for the village playhouses. They were watered down versions that the local bands played. The grandiose church's, manors, and palaces were beyond belief to the simple serfs and peasants. They were dominated by Orthodox authority figures, lords, and noblemen. If lowly peasants did hear this type of music it was to enhance the authority, control, and power of deities. It punctuated the divide and commanded reverence, service and obedience.
@valerietaylor961510 ай бұрын
The middle class ( or at least, the upper middle class) would have owned a harpsichord or other instruments, and been able to play them. There were no public concert halls then, but middle class people could have payed chamber music at home (the royalty and nobility had their own private orchestras.) As for the peasants, they might have owned a hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, or even a violin, and played music in their spare time, certainly ar weddings or other festivals.

As nice as this music is, the court elite were urinating and defecating all over the palace floors during the time period. Thankfully, the odiferous notes don't come through your speakers like the musical notes do.
