For the last week it's been all over Reddit, Twitter and Instagram Threads that the streaming platforms most likely on command of their major label overlords are trying to kick Indie artists off said platforms. The distribution companies are telling artists that they have been using bots. You see, UMG, Sony and Warner don't actually compete against each other per say. They are in competition with unsigned Indie artists and artists signed to small indie labels. They want only their people on Spotify, Apple and so on. That means all da money for them. If you haven't set up a Bandcamp page or have your website set up for direct sales I advise you to do that now.

What’s another crazy thing about tunecore is that if you collab with an artist who distributes through them, the only way you get your “royalties” is if you make a paid account. So now you’re paying to get your royalties even if you don’t use them as a distributor.

Why aren't artists getting their own streaming apps made? I saw this coming almost a decade ago and decided to make my own streaming app that only plays my music and videos. It was compatible with android and iOS and it was a direct to consumer marketplace for my music and beats. I can't have been the only person with this idea.

This is horrible, Tunecore needs to fire that employee. Curtiss can you please make a video expanding on your experiences with EVEN? While i think they are better a better option than artists focusing only on streaming, I question the logic of paying 20% to a platform that could instead be covered in a small flat fee to Shopify or its competitors for the same functionality.

The terms of service got updated end of 2023.....right after her firm started started the legal actions. She explained that in her original video. Another channel managed to find the previous TOS and that 3rd party giveaway stipulation wasn't there.

Just last week I got a copyright strike and my video on KZbin was taken down for MY OWN song and it was TuneCore that filed the copyright strike, the funny thing (not so funny) is thatTuneCore is not my distributor. United Masters distributes my music. So I contacted both United Masters and Tunecore about the issue. United Masters got back to me within a day and said they really couldn't do anything because they didn't make the strike and Tunecore still hasn't responded at all. It's been a week and no response. What kind of black mirror episode are we in
