Why is the horn activated at only some of the street crossings and not all?? Regardless if they have crossing gates or not.

Are Mars lights still getting much use in the States? From this perspective it doesn't appear to be as effective as a fixed headlight and I can't help but wonder how distracting they would be to motorists when tracks and roads are running parallel? Really interesting video, thank you!

16:49. I heard that. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so thank you very much. Most people enjoy my commentary because it adds dimension to the video and inform the view of what’s going on and where you are other than some of these mindless videos you see. Since you like my commentary so much I’m going to keep doing it as long as I like. Your mocking comments were uncalled for and I reported you.

As part of the cab car's "light package", that light is on if the headlights are on. Even during the day.

If it's a dead end track how do they turn the trains?
@c4mstack1n8 ай бұрын
They got cab cars, and locos. So when it hits the end of the line it switches to cab car, but if it hits the other end of the line, it switches to loco, and they got sidings so trains can go into them and let other trains pass

The only reason they don’t is some may be quiet zones. What he didn’t do was sound the bell which is what you do in quiet zones. If he did sound the bell, I didn’t hear it.

Those crossings where the horn was not used are in quiet zones. Looked it up on street view, sure enough they somehow managed to get themselves a quiet zone.

That rotating light is driving me nuts there's no way I could be a engineer on that train an why ain't they blowing the horn at any of the crossings but blowing it out in the middle of nowhere
@AirchimeLTDproductions174 Жыл бұрын
The crew was sounding off the horn for crossings. It's just a timed sequence of Long Long Short Long that is started roughly 15-30 seconds before the train clears the crossing and held as the lead unit clears the crossing. In the rule book it's Rule 14L. The Engineer was blowing as he saw and acknowledged whistle posts for the crossings included.

Tennessee is not the long star state and the Mississippi River doesn't run through Nashville. The engineer must be from California
@firepower782 Жыл бұрын
Tennessee the Lone Star State?😂😂 Tennessee Central Railway had passenger service on those rails until 1955, Nashville to Harriman, TN, where you could access the Southern Railroad. If they did indeed close the Donelson station in 1930 it wasn't because passenger service had stopped. It was booming in the 30's.

A single yellow aspect is "Approach"!!! Not "Approach Medium"!!! And there is no such signal as "approach clear"!!! It is either "approach" or "clear"!!! Coming out of the siding with the dwarf indicating green over red is "converging clear"!!! This indicates a trailing move through the turnout!!! There are skads of little details that an engineer must be aware of!!! I was an engineer for 30 years!!! I knew the rules like the back of my hand!!!
@jetfixer170 Жыл бұрын
Coming out of the siding with a green over red on the dwarf is a "slow clear". There is no such thing as a "converging clear" aspect. Diverging; yes. And the major difference between the slow clear and diverging clear (besides a flashing aspect) is the speed at which you make that diverging move and that typically depends on the turnout itself. Up in the northeast, the word "diverging" is replaced with either "medium" or "limited" which, again, depends on the speed you make that diverging move. You might wanna check the back of your hand... lol

@@wasatchrangerailway6921 According to UTA documentation, you only have 6 aspects that can be displayed: 9.1.1 - Clear 9.1.2 - DIVERGING Clear 9.1.3 - Approach 9.1.4 - DIVERGING Approach 9.1.5 - Stop 9.1.6 - Restricting Example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJPZd4dqo9ONeJI - starting at 4:40, the head end view from Lehi station shows the signal progression from Stop (solid red) to Diverging Approach (flashing yellow) to Diverging Clear (flashing green) going from double track back to single track. One lamp lit... Each one of these aspects will display a single illuminated lamp, solid or flashing, on any given mast. If you can show me something different, I will gladly concede to your expertise. Otherwise, stop yelling at people.
