Good for you!!! I’m 56 and just ordered one for myself. I’m not a pro either. Looks like a great keyboard/synth.

Recommending reading the owner's manual before buying is excellent advice. Especially if your spending a lot o cash on something. I do it every time I'm deciding on something expensive. :-)

@jasmine2501 - thanks for this video. It's one of the few (if not only) videos I could find where the demonstration actually used the built-in speaker. Was wondering if it was useful in any sense. Sort of reminds me of the built-in speaker of the Akai MPC Live II - you'd never use it in a production environment (mixing, mastering, etc), but if you want a quick jam and don't want to fire up your PA, they seem to work fine.

Great video! I’m also learning how to play piano and I must say you did a great job demonstrating the basics of what this beast is capable of producing. I’ve seen so many videos on KZbin of professional musicians playing these keyboards for the first time and they sound great however I like the angle you took on producing this video from a novice standpoint. It really shows how much fun and the amazing sounds the Jupiter X can produce right out of the box. Similar to you I purchased a Jupiter 80 several years ago with very little knowledge of playing piano. I figured if I purchased something expensive with a lot of cool options I would play it more versus playing a cheaper keyboard for a short period of time. So far my theory has proven true for me since I’ve played my Jupiter 80 quite a bit. I’m really interested in purchasing a Jupiter X since it looks so similar to the original Jupiter 8. That’s actually why I originally bought the Jupiter 80 since it reminded me so much of the Jupiter 8. I guess I should’ve waited a few more years for the Jupiter X to come out, but I guess I didn’t have that crystal ball handy :)

Yes, those professional videos are almost worthless as a product review because you're looking at someone who could make a 10 dollar Walmart Casio sound amazing. I can't do that, and what you see in this video is more like what a normal person would experience, including my confusion about a professional synth expecting you to plug it in instead of using the speakers. That's why they are off by default. The built in speakers are awful, they have no low end, but I use them quite often just because it's convenient not to have to turn on and set up the whole house.

Yes, the editor helps too, but I prefer using the knobs on the hardware.

Wow, spending over 3000€ on professional keyboard and then play it over built in keyboard speakers...? Really?

No not really. Don't do that. They have zero low end. Headphone output is quite nice,, and it sounds great on the house system as well.

Nope. It's actually very simple. People need to stop being intimidated by it. All of the functions are nicely integrated and mostly where they belong.
