@northerndownpour101 It's called the root note. You play the root note of a certain chord in the left hand to add bass to the sound. It's really simple. So fill in the blank, the root note of a C major chord is ___.

for those using ableton i recommend Tony's Chords, a session file containing all chords and scales, i use it to send led feedback to my launchpad. just google it, its free. that guy's work is fascinating. it made my composition ridiculously easier.

QUESTION! what's some good practice to get to playing like you? just running your scales back and forth?
@TomZentra12 жыл бұрын
Learning piano and music theory helps a lot. They are not necessary to make good music. This video is good intentioned, but it isn't a beginner tutorial. If you feel intimidated by it, just know that the presentation is directed at intermediate level producers. A beginner should start with basic major chords and their progression.

@wilkes982 don't worry about it. when you're learning piano, you spend the majority of time developing skills to play it physically. you don't need that anymore. you can learn all this theory in little time and use your computer to play the notes :)

piano, maybe not... but theory is like the first thing you should know before even thinking about making music. this video was made with the thought in mind that you already know theory, because he only talks about harmony.

Guys check out Harmony For Computer Muscians by Michael Hewitt. It's a must-have for people wanting to improve their knowledge in music theory. It covers in depth what Mark talks about here and more! Also study dynamic , and static harmony. Hope this helps. Cheaper alternative for the low income crowd :D

Just plug in notes and chords with your mouse on the computer piano strip until you get the melody you want....if you know a little about scales and chords you will get there.....although it does takes longer if you can't play the keyboard.
