Tip for future episodes: play some iconic basslines the bass in question was used on. Mention some famous bassplayers using/having used it. In this case you could have mentioned Bernard Edwards, John Deacon, Flea, Gail-Ann Dorsey, Tony Levin etc.

Ali Express. Yes, it’s a roll of the dice, but I rolled the dice and got my dream bass. A Music Man Stingray Special HH, 4 string, fretless. $205, shipped. When I got it, the neck had a back bow, and the truss rod adjuster was jammed up, so I had to remove the neck. Easy peasy, the truss rod adjusting nut broke free easily, adjusted the neck to straight, tuned it, tightened up the pot nuts, and played fretless bass on my new “Music Man”. While setting intonation, I realized the nut was a plastic heap of crap. While searching for a replacement and going for authenticity, I went to the Music Man website, as I had read that they sell the correct nuts. So out came the micrometer. WOW. Every single aspect that I could measure on this bass was identical to a real Music Man of same design. I was stunned silent, which says a lot. The bass is beautiful, plays incredibly well, and sounds better than I could ever have expected. I’m not an expert on judging authenticity, but I was so stunned by how correct this bass is, that I looked up the serial number on the back of the neck heel cover plate, and it showed up as a 2002 Stingray in black. Weird. Stolen? I doubt it. The fonts all look perfect, the print for “Made in San Luis Obispo” is perfect, even the bridge is ALMOST perfect, only in that it doesn’t say. Using Man on it. Ot took almost three months to get it, but it was worth it.

They are absolutely worth a try. In my opinion, if you want the classic bass tones/sounds (just like the jazz and precision), you want a stingray as well. The budget versions of these basses are also quite excellent as well if you're curious.

Rather than reviewing gear, it'd be cool to see you try doing some sort of challenge or sounds like, such as trying to put together a gigging bass rig (bass and amp) for 500
@desvonbladet7 жыл бұрын
The two-bass-player format is good, but. (Yeah, there's always a but.) Randomly sweeping through the EQ paramater space isn't really that helpful. Yeah, yeah. More valuable would be yeah dialing in a few idiomatic tones (reggae, rock, funk, cosmic space jazz) and yeah showing them in context. Yeah.

I've never even laided a hand on a Stingray bass. Actually, I've rarely ever even laid eyes on one. But I'll tell you this: if that Sterling 5 has the same tonal setup as the white Stingray that Nathan starts out with, I'd LOVE to get my hands on IT!!! But, it'd have to be a lefty for me... being a lefty 'n all. That's my comment. Here's my question: is that Line6 Relay Wireless system for guitar or bass or both? Another question: Does Line6 make a dedicated bass wireless system?

The amps are only in the room, it's usually D. I. sounds to recording unless explicitly stated. That can take away quite some character. Most people listening to KZbin on mobile devices with the bass response of wet paper towels only leaves similar treble spikes. Somewhat decent speakers or quality headphones help a lot, especially with bass sounds.
@AThousandSons17 жыл бұрын
Nef not always true. And my comment was stating regardless of amp, bass model, pedals, di... It's always dialed close to the same jazzy-with-bite tone

HI EVERYBODY (hi Dr. Nick). I was wondering if you might to be able to give the Talman basses by Ibanez a little blast on here? It's an interesting vintage style bass range which is overlooked, but owners seem to love them (especially for the price). You sell the short scale, the regular, and the premium Nordstrand licensed ones and it would be great to hear a comparison (I have a feeling the Nordstrand one could sell!). Thanks.

Here I go yawl,..long one!... I’ve always loved the MusicMan Basses!...each model as well as each instrument kinda has its own flavor. (..all owners or players of a few get what I mean..) MusicMan Stingrays,Sabers,Sterlings or Bongos can get a good Bassist the confidence to cover all type genre gigs. A great weapon for those troopers covering gigs on the fly! Play one on any genre and see what you get!...they’re designed to get you to the tone you’ll need!..(..and more once your in combat with the ensemble/band frequencies battle!!..) Back the Bass up with a good choice of Amp w/full range Speaker Cabinet and go kill it! (Note:..wear good clothes ‘cause you will get noticed!!..) Ok,..now to the elephant in the room on this video!..😔 I actually thought it was kinda cool watching and listening to their attempts to show off the sound & tones possibilities of each instrument. Good player/listeners could catch the intricate differences,...then there’s the “viewing” aspect of this in which brings me to my issue on this video! Towards the end,..@13:42..Nathan has a “cough” in his left hand and then handles the “expensive wood neck” Bass with no impulse or editing in the vid suggesting it may have been done!!(washing his hands!!)....GROSE!!😖...that instrument is to be sold so care is taken for scratches and the like so why not also “hygiene” ...Damn!...come on guys!!..you do,.. do things well in your vids that are good & informative for customers.(although all viewers may not be satisfied) Anyway,...I hope the future uploads will be more careful of this,..things happen in a vid shot,we’re all human!..but I think “sharing” our humanity all over the instruments during the shoot is negligent guys!! ..’nuff said...no more of that please! ✌🏾

The 2 band is actually cut and boost and no matter what knobs you turn down on a 3 band it will never sound like a 2 band. I prefer the 2 band as it is not as hi fi and zingy as the 3 band. The 2 band is defo more mellow in a Classic kind of way though the 3 band is a great guitar it its own right.
