Only video that makes sense about the explanation of the Boss TU 3 indeed. About the bright mode? I noticed it goes automatically back to standard mode after disengaging the pedal. Would be nice if it would be a choice like the chromatic or any other mode. I think the chromatic mode is most accurate.

Thank you for your kind words. I am very happy with this video and pleased with the response it has had over the years. As far as i can remember about the bright mode, it is something that has to be turned on when you need it. i guess it is a battery saving thing.... but then again. if you have it plugged into power, why wouldnt you want it to be a visible as possible.

Can i use a normal boss 9V PSA adapter to power the TU3 and from there connect the pedals in a daisy chain? the current adapter i have only outputs 250 Milliamps, So do i need to buy another adapter that has the right Miliamps to power my 4 boss compact pedals? and if i still need to buy a adapter that supports higher levels of voltage/Miliamps then what's the use of the TU3 power supply output? I'm a bit confused regarding this matter, and i do not want to damage my pedals and equipment, so any help regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated!
@MorrtMoribund7 ай бұрын
That is a good question and seemingly some useful info that I left out of this video. Yes, I know ive probably missed a lot, but I have had a quick look. I use a Boss PSA-230 adapter because I am in the UK market. It comes in PSA-100 PSA-120 PSA-230 PSA-240 They are all the same adapter generally. The number just represents the Voltage/Plug of your particular market or Country. And they all output 500milliamps of power. Now, I know the other part of your question is about how much power you actually need altogether. They will vary but the standard Distortion pedal will use approximately 10ma. But the TU3 uses between 20ma and 80ma, depending on how bright you have the LEDs. You can check this on the Boss website for any currently on the market Pedal by going into the Spec page for each effect. But someone has done this amazing guide so hopefully you'll be able to use this and add up what you have. www.harmonycentral.com/forums/topic/1510243-pedal-power-consumption-list-in-milliamps-ma/ Work from that as a quick guide but the official website is probably the best if you can. And always try to give yourself at least a 10% buffer between your max load and what you are using. Other than that I use the Roland Connection Cord PCS-20A as my daisy chain cable. I hope this has been helpful Thank you very much for your view and Comment.

Maybe a stupid Q, but if Chromatic Mode theoretically tunes to any note, then how does Flat Mode know to tune 1/2 step down relative to what? Like it doesn't necessarily know I'm looking to go from high E to D#, so how does it know to tune me to D#? Hope that makes sense
@MorrtMoribund3 ай бұрын
It is not a stupid Q. From What I remember, in chromatic mode the lights will sweep from left to right for every note. So if youre tuning your B String from adding a new string. its slack and lets say it starts at E. The indicators will say E with the sweeping LED's showing how close you are to E either as flat (left of center) or sharp (right of Center). and as you tune up your new string the leds will sweep from left to right for each note and the display will change E-F-FSharp-G-GSharp-A-ASharp and Finally B where you will fine tune to get your B perfect. But if you have it in any of the other modes like, as you say, the flat mode. It knows the exact note you are trying to tune to (B flat in this case), so the display would show the String number not the current Note being played. I think the b string would show as 2. So display would constantly show 2 and the sweeping LED gets closer to center as you tune up. hopefully that answers your question and I am actually right because it has been a while since I have used mine and I literally have used it in chromatic mode since I bought it except for when I first got it (testing out how I want to use it) and for this video. Thank you for your view and comment.

in chromatic tuning when you pluck the string, the display will tell you the current note being played. if youre wanting to change your low B to a C# then just keep plucking that string and adjusting your tuning peg until the display says C (and with a little dot to represent the #) and then when the 2 yellow arrows light up. In the instructions for the patch connectors it is clearly written that they are for pedals with walls perpendicular to the ground, boss pedals do not have a wall perpendicular to the ground. You will unnecessarily destroy the jack connectors of expensive boss pedals.

@MorrtMoribund3 жыл бұрын
I would definately recommend picking one of these up. everyone needs a tuner, and this will last and last. If im thinking of the right thing. a marshall foot switch plugs straigtht into the back of the amp doesnt it?? and then with this you can either put it in your effects loop, or if you dont have the loop option, put it at the start of your effects chain/pedal board.

From what i remember for when i used batteries. I think i used Duracell or Energizer. I just bought the TU3 today but the function "Accu-Pitch" is not functioning, despite the instructions, I can not make it active :-(
@Skunkwerx7 жыл бұрын
Luca Bob Gotti Funnily enough I also just got one today, N I also couldnt make the accu pitch work! Accu pitch didnt work out the box like on every video I've seen, and I tried following the instructions to activate it, by holidng the cent button and putting a jack into the input, but It didnt work either! In the end I got it working by pressing and holding the cent button, while plugging a guitar lead into the input, then releasing the cent button but really quickly tapping the cent button again. Voila, it suddenly works. Accu pitch is active. I believe the instruction manual is misleading, it makes out that step 1 activates accu pitch, but if you read step 2, it says press the cent button to toggle accu pitch on or off. So I think step 2 needs to be done very quickly after step one to toggle the accu pitch on or off. If you wait even a second or two after step 1, then the cent button doesnt toggle accu pitch, and it goes back to its normal job of toggling between cent or stream. Try it and let me know dude!
@lucagottimusic7 жыл бұрын
Thank you dude, you are very kind ... I tried your point 1: "In the end I got it working by pressing and holding the cent button while plugging a guitar lead into the input, then releasing the cent button but really tapping the cent button again. " But ... It's not working !! I do not know where I'm wrong ... what a frustration! I have two questions: Does the pedal have to be on or off when we put in step 1? Do you intend to tapping it several times or once? Thanks in advance, dude, have a great weekend! ;-)
@Skunkwerx7 жыл бұрын
Luca Bob Gotti Ah, sorry to hear its not working yet dude! The pedal itself should be off, but connected to power, or have a battery in. With nothing plugged into its input jack yet. Then press and keep holding the cent/stream button down, while quickly inserting your guitar lead into the input of the pedal. The pedal should then light up and turn itself on. So then release the cent/stream button, and press it one time, dont hold it down again, just press it and release. That should turn accu pitch mode on or off. So if you try it and it still doesnt work, just repeat the whole thing again from the beginning one more time. As its not very clear to tell when you've turned accu pitch on, or if you've turned it off! Hope that helps man. If not, have a look in the manual, or just google it if you havent got the manual, on how to do a factory restore, and see if that helps. You might have to try doing the accu pitch activation again after the restore/reset, but maybe it could work.. Hope you get it sorted mate!

Honestly... I think I would have to agree with you. When I bought them I thought they would be great and solve wire problems. But even though boss pedals use the same form factor throughout. Those holes are not perfectly in the same place. Which does lead to the stress from heavy stomping.
