The words in all ER songs are pseudo Latin. Except one song, the siren song that the elder bat creatures sing. The translation for that is easy to find and definitely worth checking out- it’s so sad!

I don't know if you ever heard of the Ace Combat series, but that's another series that does a lot with orchestral music. The last game, Ace Combat 7,s track Daredevil was a real surprise hit on how good it was although most of their games tend to have at least 1 track that kind of defines the game they appear in. Also, totally a different vibe but From Software has an in-house band, Frequency that did all the music for their Armored Core series. As I understand it, they're self-taught so it makes some interesting songs.

So a handful of World of Warcraft songs I think you should check out would be "Arthas my Son," "Nightsong," Bolvar's Theme (not sure if it's called something else,) and "Lament of the Highborne, oh and the zone music for Grizzly HIlls. Another game that has some good music, but the game gets a lot of flack is Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the raid music and the sea shanties are really good.

Dunno if you ever plan to go through Castlevania Symphony of the night in the future but holy the song Wood Carving Partita is a song mostly comprised of Harpsichord and it is wonderful. Would love a review but even just on your own time it is great :)

nah fromsoft music did not come even close to peaking in bb, its just your favorite, overall in bb its just one type of music, classical gothic orchestra pretty much. for me ds1, 3 and ER are several levels above bb music just due to much more complexity and musical variety in the tracks, they arent as distinct as elden souls and sometimes kind of blends together in my head(barring the obvious exceptions), cant even remember the songs that arent the best of the best of bb.

@@Al-ji4gd ehhhh i would have to disagree, imo nothing in bb is as good as say godfrey, radagon, lich, lord of blood and even the ambient music of ER is second to none imo, lyndell being one of my all time favorites, its like bb had a baby with the musical complexity of ds1 XD bb does come close with moonlit melody and dlc boss music, what irks me in bb music is that it basically all kinda sounds like the same gothic orchestral chanting to me, in elden souls you get so many different genres and instruments and musical ranges from almost each different track, especially ds1 and elden ring, firelink and ancestral spirit being particularly note worthy, as a guitarist/pianist for 16 years, ER and ds1 soundtracks satisfy me the most.

There is a game franchise that has some really amazing soundtracks but is sadly vary underrated. It's Ace Combat. Some of the tracks I suggest are zero, unsung war, daredevil, and archange.

So many Elden Ring boss songs are waltz-y, which I really like. (ok, not so many... but more than none, it's fun to hear ) I dig that Mogh is a waltz man, in between bleeding everyone and kidnapping people. Godrick theme is so swingy/waltzy

Coming from someone with a music theory and composition background: please, please for the love of everything good and holy do Xenoblade Chronicles 1,X, 2, and 3 but especially 2. Several members of the sound team are old Square Enix employees who worked on the old final fantasy games, so you *know* it's gonna be amazing. Also, it may seem a bit strange, but cover Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorer's of Sky. I'm not even kidding, the OST is still in MIDI format and it's better than almost anything I've ever heard before. Just listen to Temporal Tower for 30 seconds and you'll know what I mean. Also, listen to Dark Souls 1's final boss music and compare to Dark Souls 3's final boss music. One of my favorite lemotifs in music, ever.

About the vocals, from what I understand they consist of Latin words and other words but they aren't anything coherent. The only song in Elden Ring that is actually in Latin is the song that the Harpies sing.
